disney has released a couple of POTC comics, mostly aimed at kids, so it is a cbm now...

I'm not complaining this is here but just because a movie comes out and THEN they make a comic, does not make it a comic book movie. The adaptation has to go the other way around.

True, it doesn't make it a true CBM but it still makes it eligible to be covered here. Always has. Hell we cover some sci fi/fantasy stuff that has never even had a spin off comic.

Golden123, only if the movie was based ON the comic, not the comic based ON the movie. In your definition then Iron Man and Iron Man II are both video game movies, because those came out after the movie.

For the most part, the Pirates series has felt a lot like comic book movies and it has that spirit of over the top action with elaborate characters that play out like a comic book. Also, they're just cool.
