THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS Gets A New Red Band Trailer That's Even More F*cked Up Than The First One

"No Sesame. All Street." The first trailer for The Happytime Murders prompted some very strong reactions, and this latest look at the Miscreant Muppet comedy is bound to stir up even more controversy...

IGN has debuted a second Red Band trailer for The Happytime Murders, and it's even more bonkers than the first one.

The movie is set in a world where puppets and humans co-exist, as a tough detective (Melissa McCarthy) and her puppet partner team up in an attempt to discover who is brutally murdering the former cast of The Happytime Gang, a beloved classic puppet show.

Once again, there are some pretty funny - and very NSFW - bits, but if you have an affinity for the wholesome, family entertainment of Sesame Street and The Muppet Show, you might want to skip it! The trailer also features some of the social media reactions to the first teaser.

The Happytime Murders is directed by Brian Henson, and is set to hit theaters on August 17, 2018.

The last trailer was such a controversy that I didn't even know this movie existed!

it feels very..."omg look puppets saying adult jokes" know what i mean?

@Kevwebsz - Yeah, same reason Sausage Party has an 82% on Rotten Tomatoes

@Kevwebsz - Yeah, it doesn't do much for me. I don't have a desire to watch a feature-length film that appears primarily reliant upon the shock value of vulgarity and explicit content juxtaposed with something apparently innocent. I think it would work best as a short, sketch, or parody trailer.

@MasterMix - Sausage Party was good but not feeling it with this one.

@MasterMix - I was just going to say that this movie has a very Sausage Party vibe to it. The orgy at the end of that movie was one of the biggest WTF moments I think I've ever witnessed.

@bcom - I actually heard about that scene back when the movie was still being developed. I thought they were making it up... I was wrong.

@MasterMix - The audience in the theater I saw it with genuinely had no idea how to react to it (myself included) as it literally came from out of nowhere. It was more nervous surprised laughter than "this is funny" laughter.

@MasterMix - I'm not sure if this is 80s or 90s drugs but wow this was a Peter Jackson movie how far he has come.

@Cayde6 - Yeah, they call it his "Splatter Phase". Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles, Braindead, all equally disgusting.

@Snowbirdd - I've known about it for years, because I looked up Peter Jackson's filmography, but I haven't seen any of his earlier work. A bit too icky for my taste.

@MasterMix - Your right that's a bit much and I've seen some 80s flicks but some I wish I hadn't.

I was not a fan of the first trailer but watching the reaction of people seeing it was worth it.

If this was anyone but McCarthy, I'd be excited for this.

@LordHarryLatts

I like the idea, even the fact that one of the Henson's is involved so heavily in production. I just don't think McCarthy was a smart choice. I'd like her to prove me wrong, though.

@L0RDbuckethead - the couple of movies of hers that I've seen were so bad, it's hard to give her a chance anymore.

@LordHarryLatts - I've seen her in a few things, but she was definitely funniest/best in:

Bridesmaids
St. Vincent
This is 40
Charlie's Angels
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

She was literally in 2 scenes in This is 40 and the Charlie's Angels films though.

@L0RDbuckethead - I recommend to you Spy, is one of her best movies.

@JPSpideyFan2015 - I've seen it but I find her a bit overshadowed by Statham's performance - it's definitely one of his best comedic performances.

But, for the sake of arguing, I agree, she was better in it and should def be on that list over her small roles.
