We got our first look at The Shape of Water back in July, and since then Guillermo del Toro's latest fantasy film has gone on to win the Venice Film Festival’s top prize (the Golden Lion), and garner plenty of acclaim from the critics that were lucky enough to catch a screening.

Now, a new red band trailer has debuted, and in addition to showing us a more ferocious side to the initially gentle aquatic creature it also seems to contain at least one pretty big SPOILER.

The Shape of Water is an other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolatjion. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.

The Shape of Water is set for a December 8 release, and stars Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Del Toro regular Doug Jones.

@SonOfAGif - Similarity is due to it being another Guillermo creation of an aquatic creature and it is Doug Jones inside the costume. Similar, yes. Same, no.
