Jason Voorhes is returning to the big screen in the upcoming reboot of Friday The Thirteenth!  Filming is set to begin later this spring! The project has been in development hell ( like Jason in Friday the Thirteenth part 9) since the last reboot flopped in 2009. Many critics complained that the reboot had over complicated the basic story of Friday The Thirteenth.  Many were worried when rumors came up the film would be found footage, but those were later debunked, and this film should go back to the basics with a low budget and a hard R rating.

Interestingly, the film will be shooting only 12 miles away from where Friday the Thirteenth VI was shot. Casting will begin soon and will most likely feature some more unknown actors. Could you be Jason's next victim?

The film should be released next October and it has been confirmed the project will place focus on the Voorhees family. Jason's mother was the killer in the original Friday the Thirteenth, and her death set him on his path of machete kills. His father, Ellias Voorhees, was set to appear in a minor role in Jason Lives, in an alternate ending would have placed him as the next movies slasher.

Are you excited for the newest revival of the Friday the Thirteenth franchise? Tell me your thoughts in the comments section!

The film will be directed by Director Breck Eisner and is set for release Friday, October 13th, 2017

So the movie is gonna shot during spring and be pit in theatres in October?

I have pretty low expectations for this. Pretty much since David Bruckner left this I lost hope and it's been pushed back multiple times.

Hey Paramount...don't over think this. Jason doesn't need a complex backstory. Give him a machete, give him a hockey mask, make him unstoppable, and make him kill! And focus on the human characters!!! I know crazy right? Make us care about the victims. Why do you think Dreamwarriors worked so well? Because we cared about the victims. Add some horror and suspense, and perhaps a touch of witty social commentary*...and bam!! You'll have a great Jason flick!

*How about this for the tagline: "No Lives Matter!" And play with those themes throughout.

Whoever wrote this article should have done their homework. Friday the 13th 2009 did not flop in any shape or form. The problem was the film didn't have legs but it was still hugely popular for the studio. Although WBs should have known what to expect as the films have always done that. These films are made for low budgets and make a killing in the first weekend.

If by reboot, I wonder if they mean no f words, no token Black guy, no drugs, no dumb characters who can't think for 6 seconds, and no sex? Then again, it wouldn't really be Friday the 13th now would it?

@Shield23 - This is, thankfully, one guaranteed franchise that will never pander nor conform to ridiculous PC standards.

Expect cliches, token black kids, sex, drugs, f-bombs, and gore.

Everything anyone would want in a F13 movie.

Does it need a reboot? Find a fun angle to kickstart JV again and make a fun, smart, modern slasher flick.

@ElJefe - maybe what he needs is some tattoos all over his body and metal teeth and no eyebrows!

I literally watched every movie last October (and Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, and Scream).

Maybe they need to do what Bourne, and Rocky, and even Rambo have done...

Don't tie on the Friday The 13th moniker just yet...

Intro with scenes from the movie, and a slash across top left to bottom right (see: "\")...some witty dialog and more scenes...another cut across top right to bottom left (see: "/")...and then scale back to see a big bloody V...

Then some catch-all about Friday The 13th and/or the legend of Jason, and then "oorhees" seeps out the still bleeding V for the title of the movie:

"Voorhees: Friday The 13th"

Something like that.

If they never made another one, nobody would miss it.

Too much real horror in the world for movies about some guy with a knife or a machete to scare people like they did in the 80s.
