Over on DC's The Source blog, the critically acclaimed Green Lantern writer has described a recent visit to the set of the upcoming movie adaptation and revealed what he think of Mark Strong's performance as the villainous Sinestro! "I just returned from New Orleans, where Green Lantern is deep in production set for release in June 2011. Green Lantern has an unreal crew and cast. Grant Major – the Production Designer on Lord Of The Rings. Martin Campbell – the director of Casino Royale. And Mark Strong from Sherlock Holmes and Kick-Ass as Sinestro. And while I was there, there was a test on Sinestro. How he looks. How he moves. An amazing test."

"Unfortunately, that test is top secret."

"I can say with confidence, however, if you like Sinestro you’re going to love Mark Strong as Sinestro. Powerful, regal, intimidating. Mark clearly has done his research and embraced every aspect of what makes Sinestro one of the greatest, most complex characters within the vast, epic universe of the Green Lantern Corps. I think you’ll be as psyched as I am when you finally see him."

Green Lantern which stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role is set to hit cinemas on June 17, 2011!

Strong is like the go to villain guy. Kick-ass, John Carter, Holmes, Stardust, Robin Hood...he plays villains extremely well...I can't see him as a good guy.lol

I don't know why, but I find this comment ridiculously funny. Well done, Phin, you tickled my funny bone :)

And hell to the yeah for Strong as Sinestro. Every time he talks about the role he makes me more and more convinced that he's done his homework twice and knows exactly what he's doing.

I think that DC has got it's self a new Stan Lee. He says good about everything. I have a strong (pun intended!) feeling this could be a bad movie.

Lol, good point tea! I'm sure that Mark Strong is great, especially after Sherlock Holmes and Kick-Ass, but the sets could be made of paper mache and any of these guys would still praise it! :P

Mark Strong was the ONLY possible and real choice for Sinestro! That Mr. Andersen guy didnt look like him enough, and his voice wasnt even near the crisp tone of the former Green Lantern! Mark Strong is SINESTRO!

Beware my power!

Agreed!

Johns is a fanboy more than he is a business man. He definitely would not be blowing smoke up our ass.

Can we get some pictures for crying out loud?

@LEEE777 - I really don't see the connection between Gardner and Cooper. From what I've seen, Bradley seems more like a Matthew McConaughey type rom-com person. Guy needs to be played by someone who can not only act like a cocky S.O.B, but naturally look a bit like one as well. Maybe someone like Chris Pine.

@protonite= are you serious? bradley copper is a cocky ass in most movies ive seen him in. hangover? he was awesome in that. wedding crashers? was he not cocky in that? pretty sure he was and he was suppose to be an athlete which guy gardner was in highschool so i totally see the connection. maybe he doesnt have straight up red hair like guy sure, but they could tint it up a bit. most comic book characters in the movies dont look like how they are suppose to anyways. lets name a few. christain bale looks nothing like bruce wayne does at all. hmm jessica alba? which she was complete crap for the part anyways but regardless. chris evans looks nothing like johnny storm actually does but he did an awesome job. and not to mention hes playing cap now who he doesnt look like either.

This guy owns any role he's in. It would logically follow that he will kick ass as Sinestro.

I find Bale looked more like Bruce Wayne than any of the other actors who've played the part. Especially in BB, when he first spoke with Mr Earl at Wayne Tower after his return. I practically got goosebumps watching that half-shadowed shot of his face while he was sitting in that chair, because he looked so much like Bruce.

Jessica Alba? Meh....

Chris Evans looks more like Johhny than Cap, and he did a good job for FF. But there's nothing yet to base his Cap performance on, so we'll see.

Unfortunately, I still don't see the connection between Bradley and Guy. And I really don't mind who plays him, as long as Ryan does a kick-ass job on Hal.

If he feels its a good thing then I trust trust him on this. After all he is the main man on the GL scene right now.

He will be at the Florida Megacon in 2011. I hope to catch up to him and see what he has to say in person before the movie comes out. I am sure they will promoting it a great deal.
