Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. If Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
The book, titled
Green Lantern: For Green Lanterns Only was up in a local bookstore. The book contains data of nearly all members of the Corps featured in the movie, as well as the Guardians and objects related to the Corps. I managed to check out the book and here are several low-res images taken:
Unfortunately, due to time and memory limits, not all the data in the book was taken. However, the rest are pretty much familiar to most of us so it mustn't be a big deal.
Another book was titled
Hal Jordan: Defender of Earth which is technically a children story book. I believe pretty much parts of the books were altered from the movie (it even omits Parallax and Hector Hammond), and the book highlights only about one fourth of the movie, however here are several things that are likely to be featured in the movie;
minor spoilers may follow:
- Flashback of Hal's father flying a plane, which inspired young Hal Jordan to become a pilot is the start of the story.
- Prior to being wounded, Abin Sur communicates with Sinestro via the ring (which projects Sinestro's holographic image) during his journey in the ship.
- Hal's test flight ends up as a failure, with him forced to eject himself out of the plane, much like what we have seen in the very first trailer.
- Before being chosen by the ring, Hal celebrates his nephew's birthday, in where his family is disappointed with his failure (probably this leads to him driving alone to the coast where he meets Abin Sur for the first time).
With the cast of Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Saarsgard, as well as the voices of Geoffrey Rush and Michael Clarke Duncan,
Green Lantern is set to hit theatres on June 17!
