great find josh! atleast we now get to see the director himself expressing his thoughts on the film and it looks like he obviously has been reading extensively into the origins of GL. Can't wait for March when filming starts!

I guess. I'm afraid of too many unnecessary "liberties" taken to advance a director's vision. Hammond was really portrayed as a prick that succomed to an accident more than hapless victim of circumstance. I just hope that Campbell falls back on the source more than his concoctions of "artful" storytelling.

It will be interesting to see how they bring the more ''alien'' members of the core to life, I got a feelin that this movie will be successful

Interviewer asks Cambell, "if Sinestro plays mentor then turns the villian?" Which is a poor question IMO.

Then Cambell is asked if Hammond is the main villian. Cambell goes on to color Hammond as a pitiful victim of circumstance, that turns evil. But he was a kind of dirtbag to begin with in the comics.
I won't quibble with Hammond, but will put my fanboy foot down on a poor handling of Sinestro. That will require special care and a steady execution at the hand of a craftsman.

Considering First Flight came out six months ago, Campbell has a solid foundation to simply take live action/CGI. Already having an introductory film to work off of, associate characters and their deveopment, and also visually reference the DC Univ/Oa should be extremely beneficial and help to maintain accuracy.

GL has potential to be another flagship CBM for DC and Warner Bros. Hopefully leading the way for Justice League
Sinestro should turn villain in the beginning of the GL sequel.

I think the only Martin Campbell films that I've seen are Casino Royale and Goldeneye. Could anybody recommend anything?

´94 Campbell made the action movie No Escape aka Escape From Absolom starring Ray Liotta, Lance Henriksen and that The Mask of Zorro Bad guy?... Stuart Wilson! he was also the bad guy in Lethal Weapon 3

Cool. But whenever someone says that about a Marvel movie they get ousted as a "comic book purist".

But sometimes you just know way ahead if time that if they don't stick to the playbook on certain issues the result WILL be inferior.

teabag: "the hilight of his career was directing 2 episodes of Minder" - LMAO! :D He does seem like a bit of an odd choice to direct the movie...still, Casino Royale was pretty good so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now! However, even if he [frick]s it up I wont realise, lol - I dont think I've read more than a few GL comic books!

Note that I said "too many UNNECESSARY liberties". Meaning there are definite NECESSARY liberties that must be taken for the sake of story-telling onto film.

I totally sympathize with both parties on that arguement. It does take a balance of relaying a written story onto celluloid. But, at the end of the day, the source is the source. That shouldn't be forgotten nor neglected. If you can't fit everything onto film, consider a sequel! In fact because of the nature of comics they should serialize these movies even doing a single production filming and splitting them into different films with 6 month release intervals. That way, many stories get out there before the actors get too old.
