Martin Campbell-directed comic book adaptation Green Lantern starring Ryan Reynolds was not a huge box office hit in theatres, making $219 million, with a reported budget of $200M. On October 14, film was released on DVD and Blu-Ray and took the #2 spot on Blu-Ray chart, behind Walt Disney Studios' The Lion King. Now, according to The Numbers, Green Lantern made $4.7 million on DVD, during its three days of release, from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16.

There you go...Remember, this is just for the DVD. The only film we can compare Green Lantern is X-Men: First Class, because both had 3 days until the official DVD numbers were online. X-Men: First Class made around $9M last month. Blu-Ray numbers should be revealed soon and usually the numbers are bigger. So, stay tuned...

Of course Horrible Bosses beat it, it has Jen Aniston and it got good reviews (70% on the Tomatometer, if I'm not mistaken).

And I'm not surprised Lion King beat it either, just look at the box office numbers for the 3D re-release.

Thats disappointing. Maybe the Blu Ray numbers will be really good given the appeal of the extended cut but the DVD sales were significantly lower than X-Men's Friday release of 6.3 mil. :(

I admit Green Lantern missed being great but I will say it is good. Bad CMB films are Catwoman, Steel, Nick Fury 90's version, Batman and Robin, Howard the Duck to name a few, but Green Lantern does not go on that list.

Green Lantern ranks with Fantastic Four movies they were good but not great. Green Lantern had more expectations that is why it is a little disappointing but sad thing is the on going bashing. Many say they did not want it to fail but truth is many are not helping either because true comic book fans support regardless and say "okay not exactly what I wanted but learn from your mistakes WB and get Green Lantern heading in the right direction"

Green Lantern is a good movie, it may have been better to us if it were done back in the 90's or early 2000's but now since CMB movies are stepped up more and make bigger money such as The Dark Knight & Iron Man figure more is expected in which I understand but don't keep bashing it because to bash it once fine but to keep doing it and not say hey "make another and make it better" all U r doing is doing what the critics want U to do.

I truly believe The Dark Knight Rises and Man of Steel will begin something special for DC and head into other characters and when the time permits Justice League will be in a movie theatre b4 our very eyes and yes GL movies individually and in Justice League movie and perhaps JL movies will be a huge part of it also.

I normally don't comment on it but I had to today.

Do I want more of the fantastic GL Comic Book stories for the movie "Yes" but that will come in time but 4 now I like the GL movie and that is what counts to me.
