"Green Lantern" Might Be In Trouble!

Worstpreviews is reporting a story(via production weekly) that could have dire consequences for Martin Campbell's comic book adaptation.

"The upcoming DC Comics movie "The Green Lantern," starring Ryan Reynolds, was set to start filming in Australia in about two weeks. Director Martin Campbell has already scouted locations in Sydney and Melbourne.

Now, Production Weekly is reporting that the shoot may be forced to move to another country, due to budget concerns. Even though Australia offers tax incentives, its rising Australian dollar is said to have blown out production costs.

Just recently "Justice League of America" was forced to shut down after Australia refused to give the film a tax break. Will "The Green Lantern" run into similar problems? Stay tuned."

Even if they are forced to relocate I doubt it will stop production altogether, although we could be in for some serious delays folks:(

God this [frick]en sucks!!

Everything with DC movies is always one step forward and two steps back. Whenever something good happens something terrible happens in return.(ex. Justice League movie cast...Justice League movie shutdown. Batman was a huge success...the director and main actor dont know if it will happen again. Green Lantern Moves forward...Ryan Renolds gets cast).

I'm a DC guy and this ticks me off.

deathmetalbrian has a good point. This movie won't be shut down, justice league always has been and always will be a pipe dream.

I doubt this will stop GL. It's all ready to go basically. It was definitely not the taxing thing which shut down JL.

Yeah like i said i doubt it will stop the movie being made, but these things can cause major delays. Also, we may all thing the JL movie was a brain fart but any actor or producer associated with it that i have heard from have all said that SOB was ready to go! Cameras were 5 seconds from rolling..then...TAX!

Filming is supposed to take place in January. It's only August. They have months to find a new place to shoot if Australia doesn't work out.

Ror: When did you hear that? I remember filming originally was planned for this fall but they pushed it back. They only have one cast member!

I hope they announce who will play Sinestro soon.

Hopefully it'll be canned for a few years then they can recast Hal Jordan.

Its probably just pre production, location shots and stuff, but cameras were gonna role according to that article. Hopefully its all just red tape anyway.

Cool picture, but i dont see him as GREEN ARROW though, but then again if he could lose that DEEP SOUTHERN accent maybe, but i don't reckon he could!

All id see is LOST 'SLASH' ROBIN HOOD!

Anyone know anything he's been in without the accent?

Oh, Hartley is very good yes, but I want an older looking GA, and Holloway is the perfect GA IMO.

No hoodies fer sure, Holloway would be a perfect green Arrow! He's an actor and he's doing the southern accent because it fits the character. I've seen him in other things on TV and he doesn't have the southern accent.BTW, Nice drawing Shaman!

Hartley is the young GA on Smallville so he wouldn't be right for the older GA. Yes, he does a good GA on Smallville...almost the best acting I've seen on Smallville except for Lex Luthor!

No hoodies, but not a total Robin Hood rip off either. It wouldn't translate well to the big screen. GA's costume should be modernized, without losing some of the Robin Hood feel.

HARTLEYS best off as a TV GA like spin off from SMALLVILLE! Now that would be cool an i'll take your word for it DDD @ All ive seen him in is LOST and another movie, but NO the southern accent would not work for GA!

Anyone who watches LOST (Top show) will see only SAWYER in green tights! It'll be horrible!

Well DDD, i don't know which interviews you have seen but Josh Holloway couldn't be more good ol boy if he was born with a corn cob up his ass! But he is an actor like you said so I'm sure he could have a good stab at GA, i just think there are better choices out there..when i think of one ill let you know!

There goes lee77 again with his hypocritical arguments. Not Josh holloway but Matthew fox is ok. Tackles for hawkeye is ok. So basically anyone who has ever played a popular role can never play another role cause that's all anyone will see. Lee77 you are frigen hilarious ;)

don't worry ppl im sure GL will not be shut down. it has a very large fanbase soo the dirctor will not give it up cuz it will only ruin his reputation. but the delay would seriously be fuked up.

Yes, Ror, you are abslutely right that Josh is a southern man but he can do other dialects too! That's why Hollywood has dialect coaches. Look at Bale, he does a perfect American accent, IMO.

Some actors are are better than others at doing different accents. It's difficult to do an accent without sounding like it's a humorous impression. I have done British and Irish and Australian accents with my friends before but if you heard me you would die laughing at my put-on accent.

I think this movie will be great. Martin Campbell, Ryan Reynolds, just the character of Green Lantern. I think it will kick ass.

I would rather see a delay than a complete abandonment! I want GL to be near perfect! He's my favorite DC character, even over batman, 'cause I like Sci-fi and fantasy!

This film will happen. Don't worry. It will find a fan base then they will reboot with a different actor and crew, like Batman. Its kinda like comics with different teams of creators. LOL

They couldn't do Justice League because they needed to introduce the characters to the masses.. Same way that Marvel are doing with the Avengers..

GL will be fine :-)
