So, right off the bat, I'm gonna say that I am a Green Lantern Fan, but I am also a movie fan so I will do my best to give you a fair review from both perspectives. With that said, let's get started!

Now I went last night to see the midnight showing, and let me tell you, the movie was NOT packed, however in the first two hours I was there I had the chance to talk about comics and movies with real comic nerds, these guys new Grant Morrison, Alex Ross, and have personally met Geoff Johns, so I was happy to talk with them. Then the movie started, and by the end of the movie all I had to say was......EPIC!

I mean it, in my opinion, it was just great and a better movie than Thor by far. That was for both sides of me, not just a fan or movie fan. I'll tell you why...

Story: As soon as the movie starts, you are pulled in to the movie with an origin type scene. This in my opinion stayed pretty much spot on to the comics, but I also felt someone who didn't know much or anything could go in and understand the story behind the characters and the movie in general. Now, I will say that there is humor in this movie, most of it is the first time we see Earth. I really didn't mind it either way. Most of the time it wasn't sitcom or kid jokes, but more smart-alec type of remarks, in many ways this only adds to the characters arrogance and cocky attitude. This actually benefits the film by pulling in the audience as you see Hal deal with his fathers death and eventually grow up and mature as he deals with his inner emotions. The space battles were great and honestly, the only problem I had, was that I just wanted more space scenes. There are a lot though, it's just you see Earth more. Not by much, but still. However, wig the fact that this is an origin movie, I don't really feel like there was much they could do, obviously he's not gonna go deal with everything right off the bat. In the final battle, I was at the edge of my seat. Overall the story stayed true to the comics, giving nods to he fans here and there, but also will please movie fans alike.

Cast: I think Reynolds is a great actor and for the type of comedic act that he is familiar with, I think in the end he showed he can be more than jut a comedic star, I personally think he did justice to the character. Blake lively was great as Carrol Feris and I definitely disagree with anyone who may say she is dull. Peter Sarsgaard was a great Hector Hammond and really made me feel somewhat sorry for his character, however I think that with the way they used him; he could have been scratched from the story. He was still great though. Mark Strong was perfect as Sinestro, yes I said it, PERFECT. I had no complaints. Hal's friend is also a good character, he's more of the shoulder to lean on when Carrol is not around. The aliens were fantastic! Jeffery Rush and Michael Clark Duncan were great, they really brought the characters to life in his movie and I loved every minute of them. The supporting cast, such as Hal's family were good and overall I loved the casts presentation of the characters. Guardians were almost spot on too.

Effects: I was very pleased with the final result, the aliens, Oa (fantastic by the way), and the suits looked great. Constructs were beautiful too. The only problem was the mask, there are only a few times that you mind it.

Battles: Fantastic, that is all. Well, the last one was kinda short, but epic non-the-less.

Overall the film was great for movie goers and fans of he comics, is it the star wars of comic book movies? Yes, at least in my opinion close, the only problems I had were the mask, some dialogue, and the final battle was a little short, but it really didn't take away from the movie too much. Also the tv spots gave too much but there is still a lot you will miss if you don't see it. If your a fan, a movie lover, or just looking for an entertaining movie to waste time; see this movie.

4/5
P.S. Make sure to stay after the credits.

Beware my power, Hal Jordan out!

OK, seriously.

People DO NOT be fooled by +ve reviews from DC fanboys.

They need people to take a chance and see this movie so that it will not bomb at the box-office and has a chance of getting a sequel.

You will be wasting your money on a crap movie that is at best worth seeing on burn-dvd or on tv in a couple years.

DO NOT financially support crap so that WB will continue to make crap movies.

Let this crap movie die the ignomious death it deserves.
