I just got back from the movie, as a supporter of this film since the beginning, I was let down a bit.

The pacing of this film is what really irritated me the most. Their wasn't enough space-epic like their should have been. I think GL needed more action, believe it or not.

The acting was pretty good, RR was a great Hal, and Strong as Sinestro was perfect, too bad they didn't give him enough screen time. The end credit scene was awesome.

I'd give it a 7/10. If a sequel happens, I hope they focus a little more on the "space epic" part. But this does follow the GL mythos pretty close to the comics.

this movie was in no means great, but it was ok. DC/WB has done a lot worse with films like Johna Hex or Catwoman. this movie is FAR superior to those atrocities. take it for what it is folks, a good old fashioned superhero epic that's fun to root for the good guy. not as good as Batman Begins but maybe a little better than Superman Returns.

I was disappointed overall. There are so many things that could have been done instead of this weird story they decided to make. I feel like the wasted it. The movie isn't terrible, but it's just doesn't live up to the Green Lantern universe.

Give RYan a chance with this film. We are giving the Human Torch a chance with Captain America. We are giving Mrs Princess Diaries a chance with Catwoman, in the next Batman. Give Ryan a chance.

@MrEko the 3D isn't worth it. one of my big problems with it was some of the effects were really bad. problems going far FAR beyond the obvious mask problems. some of these effects reminded me of the kind of things you might see in a SYFY channel movie and the 3D only helps to notice just how bad they really are.

Released world wide, that's an exaggeration. Australia won't have til August.

If you think it has been harshly judged, you should see what the reviews will say come August when it opens here.

I voted "Maybe...I'll probably wait a while before checking it out."

But I've just booked it to go see it tonight.

I will be much more anxious watching it now, but I will try my best to just relax and enjoy it.

@NeoBaggins dude in the scene where Abin Sur tells the ring to find its replacement, a green orb comes out of the ring and then floats away to find the next GL and it looked so awful that i just began to face palm. but honestly most of the effects are decent but there are some that are gonna stand out enough to affect your opinion of this film.

@taskmastersummercamp I agree, it's defiantly not a Nolan Batman but it is better than Superman Return..... But I have to disagree and had no problems with the CGI or 3D. The space scenes in 3D were great. When the seqeul comes out it will be much better with the character establishment out of the way and more of Strong's Sinestro, he did a great job the little time you see him on screen.

Just saw it. Im not sure why critics like Thor but not this, this was better than Thor. Yeah SOME parts could have been less cheesy, but this was a decent movie. It was definitely fun.

The end wasnt anticlimactic like Thor. The relationship between Carol and Hal was good. Reynolds was good for an EARLY Hal... He cant do any of the funny stuff in a sequel to be the Hal everyoone knows though.

Could it have been better YES... but is it HALF as bad as the critics are saying HELL NO.

BRING ON THE SEQUEL

I will see it tomorrow if possible but it will a matinee.

By the way did anyone see that gawd awful syfy movie The almighty Thor? Hoorid by all counts but then again most direct to sy fy movies are. Thor was more whiney than Luke Skywalker in the original Star War movie.

I just saw a midnight viewing... I'm sorry to say it but Green Lantern didn't live up to my expectations at all. And I'm not a fanboy or anything, just a normal guy who likes all CBMs Marvel and DC. It just wasn't that good of a movie. Ryan Reynolds was fine, but the movie was seriously rushed. Just goes to show that even though a super hero throws a punch, and he throws a big green one, doesn't make the movie epic. Thor was better... and X-Men First Class was far superior. 5/10.... :/

I'll even go so far as to say that Superman Returns was a better CBM than Green Lantern. CGI was cool and all, but that can't save this movie in the end. So very anti-climactic.... ugh i just expected more.

I went to the theater expecting crap, but came out overall pleased. I honestly enjoyed this film more than Thor. Critics and fanboys need to back the hell off. This film is not without its flaws but all films suffer from flaws.

Why did I like it? It's FUN. The constructs were creative and a sight to behold, especially the first one he creates during the helicopter scene. There is alot of funny scenes, and a decent amount of fanservice in terms of the after credits scene and a few details in the movie. It was unlike any other superhero movie I've seen before, meaning that it wasn't gritty, dark, realistic, or serious, but you should not expect a serious movie when the powers are to create anything you can imagine. The fights were short, but sweet, as Hal rarely used the same construct more than once. And the SFX were Great.

I give Green Lantern a 4/5
