In anticipation of Marvel's
'Guardians of the Galaxy', director James Gunn and other cast and crew participated in a question and answer session where they talked about working on the project and things to look out for.
James Gunn revealed that the film will deal with the Guardians origins saying we will
'find out a little about [the Guardians'] pasts." The director also confirmed a cameo appearance by Troma Entertainment co founder Lloyd Kaufman in the film.
Gunn was understandably secretive when asked about Thanos's inclusion who last appeared at the end of The Avengers stating
"You'll have to wait and see,"replying,
"Who got cast as Thanos?"
The song 'Hooked on a Feeling' which featured in both trailers, was included as
"the last reminder he [Peter Quill/Starlord] has of his childhood on earth." "The music is also a way to keep us grounded in this out of the world space epic. We have lots of cool songs - more will be revealed soon!"
Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) revealed that one of those songs
"O-o-h Child" by Five Stairsteps. "[It] wasn’t my favorite right out of the gate but after listening to the album so many times over and over while getting in shape that’s the one song that has the right tempo for running quickly,"
The lead actor then went on to share details of his final scene of filming which may contain
mild spoilers;
"On the last day of shooting I was 25-feet underwater shooting as if I was stuck out in space, there was s scuba diver next to me feeding me air and I would wait to all the bubbles clear and pretend that I was dying. And I was super sick and trying really hard not to panic."
James Gunn also talked about his working relationship with Marvel studios president Kevin Feige stating they clashed
'everday' on matters. But worry not, the pair actually got along very well:
"The great thing about Kevin and me working together is that neither one of us have big egos about what we're doing," "I trust Kevin on a lot of big issues and I think he trusts me a lot when it comes to comedy and character stuff. It's a really fun and enlivening partnership."
Feige himself confirmed that the movie would feature some easter eggs relating to 2015s
The Avengers: Age of Ultron but don't expect Quill and friends to turn up in The Avengers sequel just yet.
Groot voice actor Vin diesel talked about the reveal of Groots voice in the second trailer saying it was one of a possible thousand deliveries of the line;
"James Gunn and I were having so much with it. So it could've been a thousand. And it was amazing to go in there and to work with someone who wanted to explore the character- we wanted each 'I am Groot' to mean something different... It reminded me, as an actor, how much we can do with so little -- and if we're passionate about it, good thing can come from it."
