GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL Critics TV Spot Promises It's More Fun Than Unwrapping Your Presents

Marvel Studios has released a fun new critics TV spot for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, heaping plenty of praise on the second Marvel Studios Special Presentation. Check it out right here...

Christmas is very nearly here, likely explaining why Marvel Studios is now putting the focus back on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

A TV spot has been released for the Special Presentation featuring some of the best moments from Drax and Mantis' mission to kidnap Kevin Bacon. The praise heaped on the Holiday Special is well-earned, and we have a feeling this will go down as one of those beloved Christmas classics which is revisited for years to come.

Unfortunately, James Gunn's time in the MCU ends with next May's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, bad news for Marvel Studios is good news for Warner Bros. as the filmmaker is taking charge of the DC alongside Peter Safran as the co-CEO of the newly formed DC Studios.

2022 has seen us get Halloween and Christmas Special Presentations from Marvel Studios, though it remains to be seen whether we get annual seasonal stories on Disney+ moving forward.

You can check out this new TV spot for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (you might notice a familiar website crop up a couple of times) in the players below.

In The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, the Guardians, who are on a mission to make Christmas unforgettable for Quill, head to Earth in search of the perfect present.

Marvel Studios' second Special Presentation stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and features Vin Diesel as Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Sean Gunn, and The Old 97's, with Michael Rooker and Kevin Bacon.

James Gunn wrote and directed The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Gunn, Sara Smith and Simon Hatt, with David J. Grant and Lars P. Winther serving as co-producers.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is now streaming on Disney+.

I wonder, how often is anyone convinced of ever deciding to watch a movie, tv show or special because a critics tv spot convinced them to do so?

It was good, along with Werewolf By Night. I see Marvel Special Presentations the way forward. A good way to tell origin stories like The Silver Surfer or Nova, they could show Thanos taking The Power Stone from Xander. Captain America returning The Soul Stone and meeting the Red Skull again.

@marvel72 - those are all three Special Presentations I'd watch.

As for existing shows in development, I think Agatha, Echo, Vision Quest, and the Wakanda and Shang-Chi spin-offs might work better as specials as well

@marvel72 - I enjoyed Guardian Christmas Special but for Werewolf by Night not so much even if it had some brutal kills was weak in story and horrible Werewolf makeup & special effects I've seen better in other shows or movies.

@bkmeijer1 - I only agree on one of those, Echo. Because given the limitations of the actress it's better if it's over faster.

@Matador - huge Man-Thing fan so yeah I maybe a little bias towards Werewolf By Night.

@marvel72 - Man-Thing was cool would have watched an episode of that character over Jack & Elsa.

Actually Ripping off band-aid like below is more fun than watching this special.

I found it quite entertaining. Just a sold story, not too rushed, expanded the universe in its own way. This is more of what Marvel should be doing. Don’t dilute characters with overly long, poorly written series. Enhance them and the universe with quality over quantity.

@TyrantBossMedia - Agreed, I hope the rumors are true and that that's the direction Marvel Studios will be taking from now on. Less stuff like She-Hulk, Thor L&T and more like Werewolf By Night, Xmas Special, Black Pather 2...

@Urubrodi - I hope so. I haven’t seen Love and Thunder all the way yet. I watched maybe the first 15 minutes and it’s already crap.
I can’t speak to BP2 yet either,

@TyrantBossMedia - BP2 is not a top tier MCU movie (in my opinion), but considering everything that happened during it's production it's quite decent and Namor was well done.

It's more fun than unwrapping your own personal Kevin bacon. Especially since you don't have to deal with any disgusting actors.

@JDL - musicals are hard to pull off. It is astounding how many people try to pull them off.

@malschla - True but it can be done. Case in point: "Once More With Feeling".

Even after the third time, I still tear up when Mantis tells Peter she's his sister. Goddammit Gunn, you did it again !
