The review embargo for The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special has lifted, and that means the second Marvel Studios Special Presentation has a Rotten Tomatoes score.
The first, Werewolf by Night, sits at 90% and this Christmastime adventure has debuted with the exact same score. We do expect that to fluctuate somewhat once more critics get to watch James Gunn's grand MCU return, but anticipated a high number following those early glowing social media reactions.
This "Special Presentation" format is definitely working for Marvel Studios and has now delivered two very different, but equally important and enjoyable stories in quick succession. There's no word on what we might get in 2023, though we have to believe more are in the works.
Whether they'll all be tied into seasonal events or that was just for this year remains to be seen.
"A seasonal showpiece for the amazing Pom Klementieff as Mantis, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is James Gunn’s Marvel masterstroke, and the best Holiday Special ever made," we said in our review earlier today. "A merry Marvel Christmas miracle, it doesn’t get any better than this."
Be sure to check back here on Friday for our breakdown of this awesome Special!
