We haven't heard much about Guardians of the Galaxy lately, but I've been gathering a few interesting nuggets over the past couple of weeks teasing the Marvel adaptation. Including vague praise for Benicio Del Toro and actress Ophelia Lovibond from director James Gunn, below, the roundup also has a Guardians of the Galaxy Nova Corps Production crew T-shirt and a vague description of how actor Lee Pace looks as the main baddie, Ronan the Accuser. More deets below!
About a week ago, UK photographer James Beddoes took to his Instagram to reveal he had seen an official Guardians of the Galaxy photo. "Can't believe I just got to look at official production still from guardians of the galaxy of Ronan and Nebula," the caption read. "I can't describe how cool they look and how much it made my day! The costumes look so amazing, Lee Pace is going to be amazing as Ronan, he looks even cooler then Thanos did in Avengers!" Upon request, Beddoes went on to describe Ronan: "He has a lot of prosthetics on his forehead & chin but you can tell it's his face, his skin is a similar blue color to Mystique in the X-men films!"
Meanwhile, director James Gunn went on Twitter earlier this week and teased that Benicio Del Toro had "just killed this scene and ate its heart." The Academy Award winning actor plays The Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy, but a previous casting report revealed that his character would be aided by a female character played by Ophelia Lovibond. Considering we haven't heard much about the English actress' role, I asked Gunn about Lovibond on his Formspring. He would only say: "She's got a great role and she is AWESOME." Also on the Twitter front, Peter Quill/Star-Lord actor Chris Pratt indicated that only 14 days of principal photography remain. "As of today we are 83.1325301% finished with #GOTG 69/83=X/100 Rithmatic," he tweeted a couple hours ago.
“Guardians of the Galaxy,” the next epic adventure from Marvel Studios, is directed by James Gunn from his screenplay, with a story by Nicole Perlman and Gunn, and the film will introduce audiences to a whole new side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The all-star cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Academy Award® winner Benicio del Toro as The Collector, Academy Award nominee John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, and six-time Academy Award nominee Glenn Close as Nova Prime. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is slated for August 1, 2014!
