Here's what the director said about this set,"The exterior of the Kyln prison walkway, which leads prisoners into the Kyln itself (a much bigger structure four levels high I was standing on to take this picture). The Kyln set was composed of 350,000 pounds of steel. The only way we could afford to do it was to buy the steel, build the set, and then melt the steel down and sell it back.
