Really looking forward to GOTG. Only because it's obscure and diverse but at the same time the 2008 team has a lot of good story arcs.

I believe that Chris Pratt and the cast will do a great job and if the tone of the film is going to be wacky i over all believe that the story for the film will be more important.

The character i'm super excited about is Rocket Raccoon. Trust me the character will be hyped up by the general audiences when the film is released.

@Omarvls, The Collector looks like that and behaves that way in the comics and what where you expecting? I mean there aliens, there not people.

Hmmm I remember that sphere that gunn is denying being at the beginning of the SDCC footage, it the sphere Starlord was stealing in some kind of fortress. Why gotta lie bout that, lol

Keep in mind that, when making Star Wars, everyone thought it was wacky, and now it's epic.

@Batmaniac

Eh, you're overthinking it. He's got a lot of enthusiasm for the project, enjoyed his actors, clearly a great experience. Leave it at that.

Too human? He looks the same as in the comics but without the ridges on his chin, and even those are pretty new.

Exactly how are aliens supposed to look? Are they supposed to wear the same styles that humans wear?

Loved the scene. The Collector is a weird guy. don't expect him to be normal. He will creep you out.

Anybody notice how he almost said Thanos is the main antagonist?

I suspect this movie will be just like Gunn's other films, where it has a very distinct tone, and style. And you're either into it, or you aren't. So, the "bad 80's alien design" of the Collector etc...just totally makes sense if you've had a taste of Gunn's flavor before.

I also expect a LOT of complaints from all the people who feel Marvel movies are getting too funny. It'll probably be their funniest movie yet.

Batmanic

Part of that might have to do with him trying to avoid giving anything away.

I want this movie to have Avatar special effects, I want a Star Wars like exploration of space and other planets plus creatures, and I want interaction of the characters like from The Avengers. If they found a way to combine those things into one movie, IMO we will have a great movie.

This movie and World's Finest are my two most anticipated superhero movies for the next two years!

I don't think Gunn is trying to "oversell" the movie so much as find things that he can actually talk about without getting in shit from Feige and Marvel.

Just look at his reaction when asked about Thanos, he fumbled around the question and basically said "Thanos is in our movie"

The other thing to keep in mind is that this is a junket. Junkets suck. Everyone treats them differently, some people just say the same things over and over with enthusiasm and move on to the next Q/A. Some people handle it with sarcasm and snark. IE: Whedon.

I am now looking forward to this movie more than any other superhero movie and i'm not even that big of a GOTG fan. I just like how different it is and it seems like it will have a lot of detail to make it feel massive and alive. I love all the other Marvel movies i just feel that they have been too small in scale. I want something with the detail and depth of say LOTR or Star Wars. Really wish Thor did a better job at making the nine realms feel real and different. Also wish characters like the warriors three and sif were given more character build and screentime.

Gunn's style fits this franchise perfectly. If done right, will be the film of the year in 2014.

The blank eyes might be a post production thing. I liked the costume, it was weird and out of this world. The assistant, I think is an alien but she's so disciplined she walks robotically. The hair is long, just not downward flowing. I'm happy with his look.

Never knew who James Gunn was before being brought in for GOTG. Big fan now with all the passion he's shown with this film. Having him and Whedon partnering of more films is great for CBM fans.

I am SO looking forward to this movie more than the other MCU movies because I know nothing about GOTG. I'm only familiar with Thanos, and if Vin Diesel is playing him, that's really exciting.

I thought Benicio was fine as the Collector! Yeah, he looks weird, but from the context of the scene alone you can tell that he is seen as a being of considerable power in the bigger picture of the MCU.

The whole scene was kinda awkward, but that seemed to be the point. His looks, his over the top demanour towards his visitors, his slightly more sinister side when they were gone - I liked it all and I'm excited to see more!
