Disney is gearing up for a major event in its animated series
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! The series is kicking off a new multi-part story arc next month that'll see our heroes, on the run from the Collector's collapsing ship, jump into the Black Vortex Mirror, resulting in them being separated and trapped in strange new worlds.
But what will make this upcoming storyline so unique is the way in which it will be visualized. Each of the worlds was created using different animation techniques to support the storytelling. A total of six unique animation styles will be featured throughout the arc: CG-stop motion, children's book illustration, 8-bit, motion comic — all firsts for a Marvel animated series — as well as Golden Age and traditional CG.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout!'s
new story arc will be told across four episodes spanning two weeks, with each episode offering its own unique art style presentation. Part One and Part Two will be shown back-to-back in a one-hour slot on Sunday, May 5, starting at 9:30 pm ET. Part Three and Part Four will conclude the story on Sunday, May 12.
Marvel has released a brief synopsis for each of the four episodes, including which art styles will be featured in the individual episodes, as well as a sneak peek at some of the gorgeous visuals.
