El Mayimbe of Latino Review has recently tweeted that marvel will continuing to screen test actors for the role of Drax the Destroyer.

After news broke on Latino Review that Jason Momoa had screen tested, and been offered the role of Drax the Destroyer in the new marvel film Guardians Of The Galaxy. It would look like he has put himself in a simile situation as Terrence Howard. According to El Mayimbe, Momoa is asking to be paid big dollars if Marvel wants him in there new Franchise film.

For an agency that gets made fun of alot, APA is playing a dangerous game with Marvel. They need to lower their client's expectations a tad. Momoa is a dope actor & I think he would crush the role of Drax. Hope it all works out.

Momoa has been many Fans choice for a long time, and news of his involvement has had positive reaction, but this latest stunt could Jeopardize his chances of playing the green skinned warrior. For those who don't remember in 2008 marvel recast Iron Mans Terrence Howard do to contract disputes. Like Howard, Momoa is showing similar tendency marvel is famous for not dealing with. But Momoas star is rising, having had lead roles in Conan and Bullet to the Head. He might be able to get his way, and force marvel to pay him what he's asking for.

In any case director James Gunn has stated in the past that the film "It's not cast-dependent. We could make the movie with unknowns if we wanted to," as he revealed at the Celluloid Heroes panel, at MorrisonCon in Las Vegas Last year.

No names have been mentioned on who will screen test. So what do you think, will Marvel & James Gunn cave to Momoas demands? Or will he follow in the paths of other actors who have asked Marvel for to much? What do you think.

"But Momoas star is rising, having had lead roles in Conan and Bullet to the Head."

Okay, so was that sarcasm? I can't tell if serious.

Not so sure about that star is rising talk. Bullet to the Head and Conan weren't exactly tentpoles. Take the offer and then hold out for more money on your next franchise dummy, this is a guaranteed blockbuster that could really put you on the map.

I think he would be a good Drax but there might be a better choice out there. My choice is Joseph Gatt?

Looking forward to PHASE 2. At first I was wondering if GOTG was a good move, but now I'm looking forward to it.

Apparently, Momoa's deal is that because he's the only guy (that we know of) to actually fly to London to screen test, he gets to ask for a major pay bump. Apparently, it was a very expensive plane ticket.

To be fair though, Marvel usually starts off with a low number that gets negotiated up. Mickey Rourke's Iron Man 2 negotiation opened at $250,000 and what turned into Sam Jackson's 9 picture deal started at a number so low that Jackson publicly lamented that he might have to walk away from the Nick Fury role for good if things didn't take a turn for the better. Obviously, they did.

This negotiation may just be par for the course.

@Nomadic1

Now that is a fantastic casting choice. I love it. It'd be a fantastic showcase for Joseph Gatt.

@AlexTheKaiser

Will Smith passing on the Neo role didn't exactly hurt his career in the least. It just wound up peaking differently.

This is all massive speculation.

Its difficult to express an opinion on either Momoa or Marvel when we have no idea what's going on.

On one hand I see where Momoa is coming from in wanting more money, but if they tell you they can make the movie with any body then you need to just shut up.

If Momoa does get his way, he'll be the first one to stand up to marvel and do so.

[frick] you, Momoa. That's ten times what the average person earns in a year for what will probably be 4 months work.
There needs to be a change in the Hollywood system, because movie quality is dropping. Maybe if they spent less on obnoxious actors and more on set builds and special effects.

Well if they can cast unknowns, I'm an unknown! :D and I'll do it for free hahaha

Joe Gatt was born to play Crusher Creel.

I still would like to see Vin Diesel play Drax. He's a big geek and deserves a CBM role, but one where he doesn't have to actually, y'know, act much. Drax would be perfect.

Y'know what? Drax should be CGI, not a human painted green. Hell, the whole movie really should be animated.

hey the actor just wants a bigger paycheck..ain't nothin wrong wit dat... howevah..if he's someone who REALLY wants to work with marvel, then he should RE-think his negotiatin strategy.
