The Marvel Cinematic Universe is so grand that even many supporting characters have the opportunity to shine and grow into larger roles across multiple films. With a burgeoning multiverse spanning 22 films and stretching to the small screen, there is plenty of room for characters to show up multiple times and have character development throughout the series.
Nebula actress Karen Gillan, who was first introduced in 2014's
Guardians of the Galaxy is no exception. The actress has since gone on to reprise the role in
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and will soon be seen in
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
In a recent interview with Yahoo UK, the Scottish actress opened up about her character's arc and how she has responded to her evolution. It seems not even she knew how big her character would become when she started filming the first
Guardians.
“When I signed on to Nebula, it was eight days of filming and she was supposed to die in the first Guardians film. So to go on and be able to evolve the character and then have her be this pivotal role in Endgame was amazing. I didn’t see it coming at all.”
The actress went on to discuss her feelings for the new movie's script, which she's had the opportunity to read. It should come as no surprise to hear her praise.
“I can say that I’ve read it and it’s amazing. We’re all really excited that James is back to complete the trilogy because it wouldn’t have felt right without him. It’s a wonderful, wonderful script.”
It looks like the Guardians family is happily working towards bringing fans another installment, and with these comments, Gunn should be delivering a film at least as good, if not better, than its' predecessors.
