RUMOR: Sean Gunn is Rocket Raccoon in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY?

According to an "inside source," there is a rumor circulating around the set of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY that Sean Gunn, brother of director James Gunn, is voicing Rocket Raccoon.

Guardians of the Galaxy fan site GuardTheGalaxy.com have heard it from an "inside source" that director James Gunn's brother, Sean Gunn, will in fact be playing Rocket Raccoon in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Sean Gunn has played a small role in both of James Gunn's directorial efforts, Slither and Super. This rumor could explain why, recently, on James Gunn's Formspring, when asked if his brother would have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn answered, "Cameo? Not quite."



GuardTheGalaxy.com is a fan-operated site, but they've been known to break a couple of Guardians scoops in the past. Even still, they are calling this one a rumor, so take it with a grain of salt.

I wouldn't think that Marvel and/or Disney would agree to that. I would think that they would either want a fairly well-known name, like most animated movies use, or at least a well-regarded voice actor. Not the director's brother. This should probably be filed with all those rumors about who is playing Batman.

I go back and forth on whether or not this would be good. A smaller actor could prove to be less distracting and more vocally convincing (as a racoon can be lol). BUT a larger actor could bring more audience and fans from the general public. Idk....idk.

James Gunn is a pretty solid character actor who played Kirk on Gilmore Girls. He has great comedic timing and a pretty distinctive voice. Not sure if he has done any voice work though.
