Guardians of the Galaxy may be considered one of Marvel Studios' more lighthearted affairs, but it looks like the film has a a bit of a dark underbelly. According to a new top 10 report by GoCompare, the film rates as the deadliest film of all time (sine the 1940's) when it comes to on-screen casualties, with a total of 83,871 on-screen deaths (80,000 of which are Nova Corps. pilots eliminated by Ronan the Accuser's Dark Aster). Marvel's The Avengers also made the list, coming in last place with 1,019 on-screen deaths.

Guardians director James Gunn found out about the list, responding with some joking enthusiasm. “So I guess #GotG is now the deadliest film in movie history,” Gunn wrote on Twitter. “By, like, a lot. Um, yay?” Gunn went on to defend the poll and explain why other films, such as Star Wars, didn't make the list. "They’re only counting ONSCREEN deaths, not seeing a planet explode. There are tons of movies where billions of people die, unseen." Be sure to check out the full list below!

I don't know what to do with this information? Like am I supposed to be happy or sad or what? Like the quality of the movie doesn't hinge on on screen deaths...
