There have been rumblings about Nova finally blasting into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for several years now, and the project is finally taking shape courtesy of Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada...

Deadline reports that Nova is finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans have been clamouring for this project for years, and while Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn appears to have little interest in Richard Rider, he did introduce the concept of the Nova Corps back in 2014.

Avengers: Infinity War established that they'd been wiped out by Thanos, potentially setting the stage for Nova's introduction down the line. While the trade can't say for sure whether Nova will be a movie or TV show, reporter Justin Kroll seems confident that the project is probably heading to Disney+.

It's clearly still early days, but Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada is on board to write. She's among those hired through Marvel Studios' writer's programme, and it's currently unclear whether she would be "Head Writer" on the project; however, her work on that upcoming Disney+ series has clearly impressed, and Kevin Feige obviously feels she's best suited to telling this story.

Whether it's Richard Rider or Sam Alexander beneath the helmet remains to be seen, but it's about time we get to explore the cosmos alongside Nova. The character has heaps of potential on screen, and is likely to be key in any number of future MCU projects set on Earth and beyond.

Are you excited to finally see Nova in the MCU?

I'm kinda hoping they do both Richard and Sam. Richard can be the last Nova after Thanos' decimation, and Sam can be part of Richard's first class of new recruits.

Also, whether they are gonna make this a movie or a show, I think the schedule is so packed already that this is something we'll have to wait atleast three years for.

I've always imagined Joe Keery for Richard Rider. But yeah, this sounds great. Make it a show.

@KWilly - he’s my pick for Johnny Storm, along with Terry Crews as Ben Grimm, Adam Scott for Reed and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for Sue

What’s cool about Nova
KWilly
KWilly - 3/24/2022, 12:25 PM
@feedonatreefrog - Marvel's Green Lantern. Instead of rings, they got super-powered helmets

@KWilly - thanks, cuz i dont know anything about Nova.... but.. didnt marvel just make Ms Marvel the "green lantern" of the MCU with her new powers with those bands that are exactly like GL's ring?

@MotherGooseUPus - I guess? Lol idk, I haven't seen Ms Marvel yet. But I mean, the Nova Corps are similar to the Green Lantern Corps. A superhero marine group.

And Richard Rider is the epitome of an average joe. He isn't super smart or super skilled in anything, like just about every MCU character is lol.

With the right writers, he can really be unique in the MCU because of that.

@KWilly - I actually like that he is average compared to others. I guess my concern right now is if Nova is like "GL"... and the MCU just basically gave Ms Marvel GL type powers with those wrist bands (at least thats what the trailer showed), i'm hoping they keep Nova's power the same or somehow distinguish it from what they just did to Ms Marvel. Either way, i'm excited as its a character alot of people on here have been asking for

@MotherGooseUPus - The concept is similar to JL, but his powers are pretty different. They’re more like Captain Marvel’s (not the DC one). Flight, super strength, energy absorption and projection. Plus the space suit is pretty hi-tech.

@MotherGooseUPus - matter fact weren’t the Eternals the Dr Stranges of the MCU? With all that yellow crap?

@OmegaBlack13 - ahhh ok. thanks for the clarification. i'm looking forward to another character coming to the big or small screen

@MotherGooseUPus - Ms. Marvel seems to have a version of Captain Mar-Vell's NegaBands from the comics.

@Skrull - never read any of those comics so was unaware. Also, very good to know. Thanks

This feels like a great time to bring him to the center stage. If done right, Nova will be what Green Lantern (and Captain Marvel) should have been. Bonus points if he helps Zenn-La in one of his missions.

Don't know much about Nova (just that he is kinda Marvel's Green Lantern but don't scream at me for saying that please) but I hope they choose the adult character rather than teenage Sam (he can come later).

Anyway isn't he another hero who shoots ''lasers?''

We've got Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Shang-Chi and others...

I just hope they somehow differentiate his powers from others.

@UXASIS - I don’t think shooting lasers is meant to be the primary appeal of the property
