FAN-ticizing: Jon Chu... Sean Penn As Skeletor Is Bad To The Bone!

Hollywood Long Time Bad Boy Sean Penn Would Be Bad To The Bone As Skeletor In Jon Chu's Master's Of The Universe He-Man Movie.

Earlier in the week I wrote an article giving my choice to cast Chris Zylka as He-Man to director Jon Chu. Partly because I like the idea of developing a He-Man from a fresh face actor who looks the part but wouldn't overshadow the character. Not the same holds true for He-Man's rival Skeletor. An Evil, Sinister, Wicked, Mad Man, Heartless Monster whose set on ruling the universe. You would need one pretty special actor to pull this off, the casting of Skeletor must make a splash especially if your He-Man is a new name to the Hollywood scene to give the movie some acting cred like Anthony Hopkins in Thor for example.
Enter Sean Penn:

A talented actor who is coming off the success of the Gangster Squad movie and many other films such as I Am Sam, Carlito's Way, Colors, Dead Man Walking and many more. Penn has shown he has a darker side in his acting ability, known for taking on intense emotional roles terrifying at times. Penn as Skeletor would grab movie goers and critics alike.
Putting Sean Penn opposite Chris Zylka would bring out the best in Zylka, and give Jon Chu's He-Man film a real chance of some highly dramatic acting scenes. Sean Penn has been brilliant on more than one occasion. I Am Sam one of his best works showed his versatility putting him amongst the elite at his craft. Sean Penn as Skeletor would give him a chance to land a lead role in the comic book movie universe and a chance to be as bad as he wants to be. Jon Chu has got to do what Joe Johnston did not do when making Captain America The First Avenger, Red Skull was not scary enough. If Skeletor MUST BE A MENACE!!! Then Sean Penn must be Skeletor.

Once again I ask the kind people from comicbookmovie.com to please put this in a spot where Jon Chu can see it. Thank you. Please comment.

If you're going to continue these castings, you should probably post them under fan-fic.

not a bad idea, i can see it. Christine Gregoire doesn't live in my states governor's mansion anymore so she probably has time to do it, and Chu would save money on make up, so that's my pick. d;-)

He would definitely be a good choice, but I'd be surprised if he would be interested in a role like this. My top choices are Willem Dafoe, Michael Shannon (again, I doubt he'd be interested) and Jason Momoa.

Not a bad choice at all. But, I wouldn't expect Penn to do this flim in a million years. I understand the need to cast a real "name" in this movie to bring attention to it. I'm pretty partial to Idris Elba taking the role if Skelator. He's got the size, body and the acting chops for it. He has a deep voice, which isn't the same as Skelators high pitched shrieking voice, but I always found that annoying and non-threating. Plus, Idris seems interested in these kinda roles ie. Thor and Prometheus.

I'd say get a big name, seasoned actor to play King Randor. I don't know who but, that would be the role to do it in. Good write up Gab, keep 'em comming. How about Beast Man, Man-at-Arms or Zodiac? Teela, Evil Lynn or Hordak?

@Gab and everyone in the emerald city - sorry, try to stay a-political round here but couldn't pass that one up! Again, i like that choice, he's Jeff Spicoli, to Sam Dawson, to Harvey Milk. I have no doubt he could pull Skelator off. I'm on board! d;-)
