Masters of the Universe: Revelation is set to hit Netflix on July 23, and we have a new look at He-Man, Skeletor, Evil-Lyn and Teela on the cover of SFX Magazine's latest issue.

Speaking of Prince Adam's loyal protector, there have been persistent rumors that she will ultimately emerge as the show's lead following He-Man's death, and that she will embark on a relationship with new character Andra. Creator Kevin Smith has previously suggested that this was bogus, and has now flat-out shot down these reports.

Revelation will serve as a sequel to the '80s animated series, and has assembled quite a voice cast to continue the story, with Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Sarah Michelle Gellar as Teela, Alicia Silverstone as Queen Marlena, Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man, and original Skeletor voice actor Alan Oppenheimer taking on role of Moss Man.

Liam Cunningham as Man-At-Arms, Griffin Newman as Orco, Stephen Root as Cringer, Diedrich Bader as King Randor and Trap Jaw, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Henry Rollins as Tri-Klops, Susan Eisenberg as Sorceress, Jason Mewes as Stinkor, Phil LaMarr as He-Ro, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, Cree Summer as Priestess, Kevin Michael Richardson as Beast Man, and Harley Quinn Smith as Ileena round out the cast.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be split into two parts, with the five episodes of Part 1 premiering on Netflix July 23.

@odinson40 - I did. Loved it. I was also kind of joking about Teela, but seriously, this is called Masters of the Universe. Would it really be so bad if He-Man was just a prominent supporting character?

Yeah this always seemed like a false rumor to drum up controversy. I mean, Netflix abandoned she ra (basically female he man) in favor of an actual he man show that switches he man half way through for a female he man? Who would believe that?

I wish people would wait until the show comes out before judging it prematurely and even if he made some significant changes its really all about execution.

Isn't "He-Man dies" like a HUGE spoiler? I honestly have heard SO many different things about this show (for instance, He-Man turns out to be a black man. Yes, that's a real headline I read.) that I really don't know what's true and what's not. Now He-Man dies and Teela takes over as as female "He-Man" with a lesbian lover? Doesn't make any sense. But then again neither does any of the other hundred different rumors I've heard about this show. It doesn't diminish my interest in the show. If anything in a weird kind of way it heightens my interest. I wanna see which of the rumors turn out to be true and which ones turn out to be false. One rumor I feel is true: This is a VERY "talky" kind of show where the action takes a FAR back seat to the endless talking. The ONLY reason I feel like that could be true is well, it's a Kevin Smith show.

@BecauseICare - They changed the race of He-man's ancestor who was the first, which is where He-man's powers come from. But this character is from the 2002 series and the new show is about the 80s one. So they took his ancestor from a different show brought him to this one, changed him from white to black and I'm assuming they aren't going to make him related. So it's weird cause he isn't canon to 80s but to 2002 but they are bringing him over anyways which then makes the first He-man black.
Basically what they did to Doctor Who by retconning it and saying the first Doctor was a black women.

@WarMonkey - that makes zero sense. And it's not your fault. At all. You explained it quite well. If that rumor turns out to be true, that's a VERY patchwork way of building canon. Take a little bit from here, a little bit from there, a splash of this canon, a dash of that canon, and don't worry it may look like a cluster-you-know-what right now, but trust us it'll all make sense in the end. No, it doesn't. If you wanted to race bend a character there are SO MANY He-Man supporting players who could EASILY fit that bill without even blinking. Instead they're taking a person from 2002 canon and shoving him into 80's canon and somehow it's all supposed to make sense. Ugh. I'm all for race bending characters. Really I am. Representation matters. But make it make sense.
