In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up long-dormant demons that possess each of those friends in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.” FilmDistrict will release in theaters April 12, 2013.

(Highlight for Spoilers, don't highlight and don't bitch at me for informing interested readers if you don't wanna know some spoilers!)

First off, Mia is a drug addict, she likes her cocaine. She plans a retreat into the woods with her brother, David, his fiance, Natalie, David's old buddy, Eric, from their old band, "Darkman" (Reference to Sam Riami's Darkman) and Eric's girlfriend, Olivia. By doing this, Mia hopes to rid of her addiction by simply going cold turkey. Mia's tried going cold turkey before, but has failed, many times. The group of friends swear to not let her give up this time. When Eric finds and accidentally summons demons from the Book of the Dead, the first to be possessed is Mia. All of her friends assume that Mia, under possession, is just doing these weird things because she is reacting to not having drugs. They're wrong.

The first still showcases Mia's Cabinmates staring at her when she comes into the room, holding a shotgun, she shoots David, making him temporarily deaf. Mia then just collapses to the floor and David screams for Olivia to grab the gun. As Olivia bends down to pick the weapon up, Mia comes to and tackles Olivia, then proceeds to puke gallons of blood as well as pieces and hunks of food and what not on her face and in her mouth.

The second still is of Mia, after she is no longer possessed. After David sacrifices himself and burns the Cabin down to the ground, leaving the Book of the Dead as the only thing that survived, a demon, consisting of parts that resemble David, Olivia, Natalie and Eric, comes to life and tries to kill Mia. Mia runs into a nearby fox-hole and comes out the other end, which happens to be inside the garage, she grabs the chainsaw and runs outside, to the jeep, in hopes of hiding. The demon finds Mia and tips the jeep over on top of her, forcing her to cut off her own arm (Mia is the only survivor). (End Credits Scene)Mia is seen walking down a trail, to which a pick-up pulls up revealing an elderly man and his passenger. Freaked out by seeing the girl holding her recently chopped off arm, tells the girl to get in as they race to a hospital. We then see inside of the truck, Mia looking into the camera, her eyes pitch black and grinning quite creepily as it fades to black (Mia has been possessed once more).

The still with Mia screaming, the reason for her face being burnt, she is in the bathtub, with the water WAY above boiling point, literally cooking herself (She's possessed, mind you). Her brother, David, runs into the bathroom and saves her.

Saw this movie the other night. Not very good. And the ending I saw is different than what he is reporting above which is strange.

Im confused though, are they doing this reboot AND sequels to the original at the same time?

LOL, @Dio, don'tcha just love adlinks! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fresh take on the franchise and it worked. I love the originals and I like this one as well. Not seeing Evil Dead or ED2, going into this one not having experienced the originals, you might actually enjoy it more. But just go in with the mindset that if anything appears cheesy or silly, it is there on purpose cause that's how it was in the original (i.e., the camera on a stick zooming through the woods).

@MisterNiceGuy Though nothing is confirmed, it has been said that this film is not a reboot. The film does not make reference to the past movies, nor does it ignore them. I saw this movie as a sequel to Evil Dead 2 that takes place 30 years after, and I think that is how it is to be viewed. Sam Riami confirmed that he is currently working on Army of Darkness II.

Basically. The opening scene shows you that the book has been used before. But that is the only reference to past happenings.

I'm excited! After all, it's a remake not a shot for shot redo of the original, so some changes are bound to be made, it is what it is.

Assuming Evil Dead never existed before this is still a very generic horror movie that disguises its inadequacies with cheap thrills and excessive gore
