If you're a fan of cult 1986 musical Little Shop of Horrors, you'll know that the highlight of the movie was Steve Martin's sadistic dentists Orin Scrivello (DDS), and now Chris Evans is in negotiations to play the same role in the upcoming remake.

Greg Berlanti is directing the project, which also has Scarlett Johansson and Taron Egerton circling the lead roles.

Little Shop of Horrors tells the story of Seymour, "a meek florist who works at the aptly named Skid Row Florists, where he is under the thumb of the owner, Mr. Mushnik, but where he also is secretly in love with Audrey, who also works at the struggling shop. Seymour becomes a celebrity when discovers a venus flytrap-looking plant he dubs Audrey II, but his life becomes disastrously complicated when the plant demands to be fed human blood, and then eventually people themselves."

If Evans signs on he'll rejoin MCU costar Johansson, who is set to play Audrey. Egerton is in line to portray Seymour, and Billy Porter will provide the voice of the man-eating plant.

You can check out Martin's hilarious rendition of "Dentist" in the player below. We really hope Evans gets to sing this!

It's a funny coincidence that Little Shop of Horrors is gaining some hype now because a few weeks ago Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl) was announced to play Seymour, the lead, during a run of the play at Broadway soon next month.

And now Evans will play the role of the douche dentist in a film remake. Small world.

Not surprising, his other forte is playing bad guys like in Knives Out and in other previous movies of his filmography.

@NinnesMBC -

In 1960 was released the first movie about THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS with Jack Nicolson, so it will be the third version.

I watched this play back in 2013/2014 I believe, it's always a fun story. The plant is such a manipulative douche haha.

And wow I missed the part where Greg Berlanti was directing this. If he did well with Love, Simon then this shouldn't be so hard either.

@tmp3 - I loved him before he sold his ability to pick movie scripts for immortality to a demon.

@Reeds2Much - Haha, I wish his last few movies were better but The Jerk and Planes, Trains and Automobiles are comedy classics for me. Still need to see his Netflix stand ups with Martin Short

Evans had some stellar performamces already in Snowpiercer and Knives Out, so I think this would fit really well

This would be amazing, but what’s up with the evolving certainty of the other castings from the start of the article to the end? Egerton and Johansson go from “rumored to be circling” to confirmed.

Personally, Egerton would be great as Seymour, but I’d rather get someone like Janelle Monae as Audrey. Don’t really see Scarlet in that role.

The Billy Porter / Audrey II thing seems pretty questionable, but the rest seem well cast. I’d say it doesn’t need to be remade at all, but I wouldn’t mind a version with the original ending.

@Chewtoy - The plant was basically a big sassy drag queen in the original...Billy Porter is perfect for that role.

@TRexx21 - Levi Stubbs had an underlining growl to his voice that allowed it to turn on a dime, from comical to menacing. I’ve never heard any such edge to Billy Porter’s voice, but then I’ve only heard him sing once or twice belting out showtunes.

@Chewtoy - I watch him on Pose...he can do it. It'll probably be a little sassier though lol.

As a dentist I find this awesome haha

Also I think it’s cool he’s gonna play a dentist because his dad is a dentist!

Let us not forget the source material: the beloved horror musical we all know and love was based on a 1960 Roger Corman B-flick!

@FlixMentallo21 - With an early appearance by one Jack Nicholson!

I didn't know they were remaking this again. Both movies are favorites of mine. Never saw the play. Also, anyone remember the short lived animated take?

I used to watch that on the early Fox Kids days with Bobby's World, Zoo U and the Bill and Ted cartoon (Yeah! I'm old!)

I remember my highschool performing little shop of horrors and the dentist had everyone dying of laughter. Sign me up.
