Clive Barker's Nightbreed To Be Screened Uncut

The full 145 minute work print of Clive Barkers's adaptation of his own novel Cabal has been found and will be screened. Surely home release to follow?

If you haven't heard of Nightbreed its Clive Barker's ambitious adaptation of his novel Cabal. It stars David Cronenberg as serial killing psychiatrist Dekker, and Craig Sheffer as his patient Boon, framed for his murders. Shot down by the cops, Boon is resurrected in the secret mythical city of Midian, where the monsters live, and joins them as they defend the gates of the city against the "real monsters" from the normal world.

Its a decent, under rated, but admittedly uneven movie, spawned from a far superior novel and Epic(remember them?) comic series. Apparently the film was drastically interfered with by its studio(they cut it down to under 90 minutes) and has always been the subject of controversy, and rabid fan speculation of what may have been. Now the full 145 minute work print of the directors cut of Nightbreed has surfaced, and will screen for the first time at a Horrorhound convention next month.

Its not known if the movie will be restored to full cinema standard quality for re release, but i'm sure its bound to find its way on to DVD/Blu Ray at some stage, so if your a horror fan I recommend you check it out..and check out the original too, its certainly flawed, but well worth a watch.

I liked it. maybe I was just such a fan of the book and comic that I kind of made myself like the movie..but theres no denying that he first hour is very good..it just turns into a bit of a cluster [frick]. But at least we know why. I'm looking forward to this full version.

I remember that movie back in the day. Saw it at the theater. Wierd flick, sometimes hard to follow. I'm sure the full version will be easier to understand. Not interested though, it wasn't that great to begin with.

Anyone really interested in this ought to check out Clive Barker's website and see what he has to say about the studio interference - very interesting.
He also goes through the shooting changes scene by scene, too.
Personally, I only managed to get a copy of this on DVD via Torrent which is from a worn VHS tape, so the transfer's not good quality.
As I'm in England and there's no region 2 release of this, I'm really hoping this gets treated right and gets a proper DVD/Blu-Ray transfer so I can get my hands on the full version as Barker saw it.

i would love to see a remake of this, and a sequel to king kong without kong, because i say if people saw a huge ape like that they would send people back to the island no matter the cost. so do a skull island film that would be sweet.
