FRIDAY THE 13TH TV Series In The Works

We found out recently that V/H/S director David Bruckner was in line to helm a big screen Friday The 13th reboot, but according to Deadline we'll also be getting a new hour-long tv series based around hockey mask-wearing killer, Jason Vorhees.

It seems Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment think it's a good idea to produce a weekly hour-long tv series based around indestructible murderer Jason Vorhees and his vacuous victims. Original Friday The 13th director Sean S. Cunningham is on board as an executive producer, and had this to say about the project. “Jason Voorhees is synonymous with the genre and we plan to build on this legacy with a provocative and compelling take that expands upon the storylines that have already thrilled millions worldwide.” Apparently writers Bill Basso (Terminator) and Jordu Schell (Avatar) will script a tale that "re-imagines Jason Voorhees in multiple time periods," and focuses on "the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer, as new secrets about his wacky family are revealed." I have no idea what we can expect from this aside from weekly doses of Jason dispatching attractive idiots ad nauseam but I guess we could be pleasantly surprised. Thoughts?
