I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER: Amazon Unveils Bloodless First Trailer For YA Slasher Reboot

What exactly is the point of remaking a well-known slasher and toning down the violence for a YA audience? We have no idea, but Amazon clearly believes it's a good idea. Check out the trailer for IKWYDLS.

The teaser trailer for Amazon's upcoming reboot of hit '90s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer is now online, giving us a first look at some footage from the young-adult horror series.

The 1997 original was based on the novel of the same name by Lois Duncan, and starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. as a group of teens who find themselves stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night.

This trailer suggests that the show will follow the same premise, but it looks like the blood, terror and threat have been toned down considerably. Honestly, a couple of shots aside, this could be a teaser for the Gossip Girl reboot.

Check it out below and let us know what you think.

One year after the fatal car accident that haunted their graduation night, a group of teenagers find themselves bound together by a dark secret and stalked by a brutal killer. As they try to piece together who's after them, they reveal the dark side of their seemingly perfect town — and themselves. Everyone is hiding something, and uncovering the wrong secret could be deadly.

The project hails from Sony Pictures Television and Original Film, and has Preacher scribe Sara Goodman on board as writer. Madison Iseman (Jumanji: The Next Level) will play the lead, and she'll be joined by Brianne Tju (Light as a Feather), Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso (Solve), Fiona Rene (Stumptown), Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom (Homecoming) and Bill Heck.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is set to premiere on October 15.

@dracula - I just love it, because I always imagine the pitches for these scenes being funnier than the actual scenes, just these stoned dudes sitting around clowning lol

@MyCoolYoung - guessing you havent seen the show.

Its complicated.

He is blown apart but that might not be enough to actually kill him.

In ancient times it too a whole army to dismember him and thats how he was stopped, they kept the body parts separate. They were now brought together so he is back. So as long as the body parts are kept separate he is as good as dead.

Luckily for buffy forged weapons came a long way since he was first defeated

@Waddles - That intro is amazing! From her not knowing how much gas she has until it was less than empty, right down to the guy waiting for the car to be at full speed to make his move. Need to check it out.

@Waddles - This was an AMAZING opening scene for a slasher film ( on par w/ Scream)! Also, noticed gas was 1.14 a gallon!!!OMG!
Finally, this movie also has a great twist ending when it comes to finding out who the killer is!

Wow.......we're obviously in the preliminary stages here, but they might as well have just made an original show because this bares no resemblance to the original movie in terms of tone whatsoever.

In other words, this looks like hot trash during a summer in Arizona.

The original itself is far from great, but Kevin Williamson's script and using the 'Scream' template, along with the 90's nostalgia aging like wine, still makes it watchable and some good fun. Hardly screaming out for a tv series remake. Pretty little liars could pass for a tv remake better than whatever the hell this trailer is.
