Jane Levy Talks Possibility of EVIL DEAD (Remake) Sequel

Jane Levy Talks Possibility of EVIL DEAD (Remake) Sequel

Like the limbless foes in these movies, we can't expect this movie to go anywhere.

With the Evil Dead remake generating positive critical and commercial success, one would almost figure it would be a good time to deliver a sequel to the Fede Alverez movie. However, with the recent announcement of the TV show with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell on board, questions have begun to circulate regarding the future of the reboot timeline.

Actress Jane Levy, star of the remake says:

I don't think they're gonna make it. I mean, they're always coming up with a new thing- now I hear they're making a TV show. I was like, what? [Laughs] I think they just like exciting their fans and confusing them. I honestly don't know, but it doesn't seem like there's going to be an EVIL DEAD 2 anytime soon. At least, not with me in it.

With countless rumors of an Army of Darkness sequel, a sequel to the remake, and so much more; Levy is certainly right, it's been oddly confusing as to the current and future direction of this beloved franchise. With the TV show confirmed, it would seem that Raimi has decided to leave the reboot behind and focus on using Bruce as Ash, a character and actor he's comfortable with.

This also doesn't necessarily mean the TV show couldn't have Jane in a multi-episode arc or even have her be a deadite that Ash slays in the first 10 minutes of the TV show (I prefer the latter honestly).

What do you guys think? Are you disapointed by this news? Excited? You know where your opinions go.

A sequel isn't needed, although the whole Remake/Original mashup sequel seemed like a cool idea. But since they've confirmed a series featuring Ash, I don't see any point in that. This was a good modern remake, let's leave it at that.

The film was one of the few horror remakes that surpassed the original. I hope it does get a sequel and it strays away from the plotline of Evil Dead 2 like this film strayed from the original Evil Dead's story. It'll be a damn shame if it never happens for what may be a lackluster show.

It was great, but it's NOT better than the original James!

I really wanted to see a Mia/Ash team up so Ash could teach her how to deal with her possessed side.

That's a shame, I would have loved to see her and Ash side by side, within an Evil Dead film directed by Fede Alverez.

Levy would be the perfect Mary Jane. I am super glad it won't be that dirty hippy from Divergent.

But isn't Fede Alvarez still attached to Evil Dead 2? I'd much rather have a sequel with perhaps Ash showing up than a tv show. The "remake" was brilliant.
