Jason Momoa & Lucas Till To Star In David Hayter's WOLVES

Jason Momoa & Lucas Till To Star In David Hayter's WOLVES

The X-Men/Watchmen writer is set to make his directorial debut with the long in-development Werewolf flick, which now has X-Men: First Class' Till and Game Of Thrones' Momoa on board as hero and villain respectively..

Wolves was first announced back in 2010, and seemed to drop off the radar afterwards. But it seems David Hayter (Aka the voice of Solid Snake) has been keeping on top of the movie, as last week Lucas Till (Havok in X-Men: First Class) won the lead role, and now he’s being joined by Jason Momoa ( Khal Drogo in Game Of Thrones) and newcomer Merritt Patterson.

Hayter is set to direct Wolves from his own script, and the story is said to focus an eighteen-year-old werewolf (Till) accused of murdering his own parents, who goes on the run and winds up in a small town named Lupine Ridge (yes, really) that has a history of supernatural happenings. Momoa will play the villain, a “badass werewolf patriarch.” Patterson’s role has not been revealed yet.

We haven't had a really good Werewolf movie since..umm, Am American Werewolf In London? There has to have been one since that - answers on a postcard. Anyway, point is, we are long overdue for one. Will this be it? Honestly I doubt it, but we can hope! Wolves will shoot in Toronto this fall.

Finally a Bodybuilder type body guy who can ACTUALLY act. Loved him in Game of Thrones and I can see him being a badass werewolf as well. Bring it onnnn.

Ahh yes, Dog Soldiers was decent, well, it got a bit ridiculous in the end. Ginger Snaps was ok too, but I mean a REALLY good one.

If its gonna have alot of action like the plot imply then i think its probably not gonna be so good. Good Werewolf movie focuses on the horror. Like AWIL and The Howling did. Hope they have at least good Werewolf make-ups if nothing else.

We need a good dramatic Werewolf story. I had a idea about three brothers who havent seen each other in a long time go and hunting in the wilderness of Alaska and in their Uncle´s cabin they himself become hunted by punch of blood thirsty werewolves.

I've always thought the 80's TV show Werewolf wold make a good movie.

But yeah we do need a good werewolf movie sometime soon.

Okay, I had to look Hayter up to see what the hell he's done other than voice work. I'm pleasantly surprised to see that he's got some screenplay credit on the first two X-Men films and at one point was writing a Black Widow film.

So, I'll hold off on my 'who in the blue hell would let this guy direct a movie?' until I see how his talents at directing actually pan out.

Wolf was good, but the best werewolf movie in my opinion is the original Howling. This sounds like that shitty movie Skinwalkers from a few years ago.

Screwger@ True about that. And yeah the tattoo story was great too. But that line is to me most memorable in the movie. I mean what else would you say to 7 foot tall Werewolf who is about to eat you any second. ;)

tea@ In Werewolf in Paris the Werewolves were more like Werehedgehogs. ;)
That list pretty much contains all of the best Werewolf films. Only Wolfen wasnt really a Werewolf movie.
but basically it belongs in that gategory cause it had punch of super smart Wolves.
The Company of Wolves was creepy film back in the day. Great masterpiece from the hands Neil Jordan.

@tea-while I agree with ya about most of the films on your list, have to disagree with ya about wolfen. Not really about werewolves at all, even the book (which is SOOOO much better, scarier and more visceral than the film ever THOUGHT about being) was about wolfish humanoids, there was no shape-shifting involved in either one. In my opinion, that is what makes a werewolf...a werewolf. Gotta have the shape-shifting.

All time BEST werewolf movie? The Howling! my opinion.
All time BEST werewolves in films? The Howling, American Werewolf in London, Trick r Treat, Bad Moon, Monster Squad (although that werewolf didn't have much for facial expressions and when he turned, the head turned with the body, neck didn't move) still, a great design!
