Warner Bros. debuted the bonkers first trailer for Meg 2: The Trench (check it out below if you missed it) earlier this week, and we now have three international posters to accompany the teaser.

The footage featured Jason Statham's rescue diver turned giant fish-killer Jonas Taylor and his crew facing multiple Megs, but it also hinted at some new prehistoric threats, and they're spotlighted here.

One of the new beasts is clearly a giant octopus or squid, and while the other creature is mostly obscured, it's believed to be a Kronosaurus.

"Get ready for the ultimate adrenaline rush this summer in Meg 2: The Trench, a literally larger-than-life thrill ride that supersizes the 2018 blockbuster and takes the action to higher heights and even greater depths with multiple massive Megs and so much more! Dive into uncharted waters with Jason Statham and global action icon Wu Jing as they lead a daring research team on an exploratory dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. Their voyage spirals into chaos when a malevolent mining operation threatens their mission and forces them into a high-stakes battle for survival. Pitted against colossal Megs and relentless environmental plunderers, our heroes must outrun, outsmart, and outswim their merciless predators in a pulse pounding race against time. Immerse yourself in the most electrifying cinematic experience of the year with “Meg 2: The Trench” – where the depths of the ocean are matched only by the heights of sheer, unstoppable excitement!"

Sienna Guillory (Clifford the Big Red Dog), Skyler Samuels (The Gifted), and Sergio Peris-Mencheta (Snowfall) recently joined the cast in supporting roles. Peris-Mencheta will play the villain, "a hard-edged mercenary," Guillory is the head of an applied sciences division, while Samuels is "an adventure-loving member of the submarine crew."

Surviving Mana One crew members Cliff Curtis, Sophia Cai and Page Kennedy will also return.

The first movie's writing team (yes, it was a group effort) of Jon and Erich Hoeber and Dean Georgaris penned the script. Ben Wheatley, who is best known for disturbing/surreal movies such as Kill List and High Rise, is directing.

It's quite the departure for the filmmaker, although he did take a step closer to more mainstream fare with action flick Free Fire, and signed on to helm the sequel to 2018's Tomb Raider reboot last year before parting ways with the project.

I never saw the first one. Might give it a try for shits and giggles.

I wonder how that phrase came to be?
I’m not the giggling type when I got the shits.
