In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy...until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Dark Shadows also stars Helena Bonham-Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Chloe Moretz and Jackie Earle Haley. The film will be in theaters May 11th, 2012.

I think I'm going to see this. In IMAX. Just to test the cinema's system before TDKR. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp surely won't bore.

itsbarry, you see this isn't how it works

On a Marvel article, you're supposed to insult Nolan. On DC articles you're supposed to insult Nolan

Here? we insult the shithead Burton

@PatientZero: say what you whish about him but saying Helena Bonham Carter is ugly means having serious eyesight issues.

Until any of you start having half the success that Burton I'd suggest remaining very quite and very still. The man hasn't lost his touch he just does things differently now than he did 20 years ago. To call his "Spouse" and I am using that loosely since they aren't married ugly is seriously stupid. The woman is beautiful plain and simple and she has a unique kind of beauty to her.

If Nolan directed it, there would be substance and quality storytelling.

Helen is a rarity in Hollyweird these days. Gorgeous and talented. <3

I want to see this but I dunno, the first trailer I saw in front of The Three Stooges (which was great) and it rubbed me very wrong. Maybe it was the music used but the whole tone of this movie just throws me off... this trailer was better though and I guess it could be really funny. I'll wait for reviews to decide if it'll be a theater ticket or a Redbox rental.

I still have mixed emotions about this film. I watched the original TV show, and there were no comedy elements to it.

So, I'm pretty sure that the die hard fans of the show must be quite upset with the direction that Burton decided to go with the film.
