By premiering their film three weeks early at one of the most well known festivals in the industry, Paramount is showing a lot of confidence in their latest horror release. With fantastically cut trailers, edited to the sound of haunting snare drums, Pet Sematary has been generating a lot of hype during the past few weeks.

Starring Jason Clarke and John Lithgow, the first reactions have started to come in regarding the quality of the adaptation. While most agree that Pet Sematary is an unpredicable piece of horror entertainment full of great scares, there are also a few mixed reactions.

Well, those complaining about the story beats being too similar and the story pretty much ending as soon as the horror kicks in surely didn't even get close to a synopsis of the book, cause that's exactly what the book's like

I guess remakes are the new horror theme for the time being. 2016 was still 9ne of the best horror film years.

Out of the past 5 years I gave to say that...

The Witch
Hereditary
Dont Breathe
A Quiet Place
Get Out

were some of the beat horror movies that pushed the genre forward.

What a relief, I thought this one would be a letdown. I like Jason clarke but he’s dull as dishwater on his own, needs to be surrounded by more interesting actors. And the cast here doesn’t impress me much.

But man I hope it’s great, because I want the quality King adaptations to continue. Most of his work deserves better than all those shitty 80s horror flicks.

I really wanna see The Dark Half and Needful Things readapted. Same goes for Salem’s Lot.

Had huge reservations about Clarke prior to the film.

These reviews praise the movie but there is never a mention of how it deviates from the source material.

I think Kings work is a great starting point but it ultimately best if they stray imo. He always has interesting concepts but goes of the rails by the second half of almost every story
