Deadline confirms that Gotham alum Donal Logue is the latest addition to the Resident Evil reboot that's currently in the works. The trade explains that he's set to play Chief Irons, the Chief of Police of the Raccoon Police Department. He was deeply involved in corporate corruption, taking bribes from Umbrella U.S.A. to keep the company out of investigations.
How he'll be portrayed in this movie remains to be seen, but chances are it won't be all that different to the games (and things get seriously twisted for him as his story unfolds).
Logue, who played Detective Harvey Bullock in Gotham, is not the only new addition to Resident Evil, though. Chad Rook (Weather Wizard, The Flash) and Lily Gao (Evelyn Chu, The Handmaid's Tale) have also joined the movie; unfortunately, their roles have yet to be revealed.
Set in 1998 on a fateful night in Raccoon City, the film - which is set to receive a theatrical release - has so far assembled a cast that includes Kaya Scodelario (Maze Runner) as Claire Redfield alongside Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.
No release date has been revealed, and we have no idea when production begins (for obvious reasons). What, if any, connection this will have to that Netflix series in the works remains to be seen.
