As production continues on the next instalment in the iconic Scream franchise in Montreal, Canada, a new photo from the set has revealed the movie's official logo, and it looks like Paramount/Spyglass have come up with a clever way of differentiating the sequel from its predecessor.
It's become something of a trend for legacy sequels to drop the numbers from their titles, and because the recent fifth movie simply went by "Scream," fans had been wondering what the next film would be called.
Well, the studio appears to have solved the problem! Instead of going with "Scream 2" (which, of course, already exists), they've settled on Scream !!. The exclamation points obviously serve as a "II," but if you look closely, you should also be able to make out a "6".
In related news, Bloody Disgusting reports that both Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) And Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home) have joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
Previous set photos have confirmed that the slasher sequel will leave Woodsboro behind, with this latest incarnation of masked serial killer Ghostface taking his reign of terror to the Big Apple.
Despite rumors that she has since come to an agreement with the studio, Neve Campbell is not expected to reprise the role of Sidney Prescott.
Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad), and Jenna Ortega (Tara) will return, with Scream 4's Hayden Panettiere set to reprise the role of Kirby. Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, and Josh Segarra recently became the latest cast members to sign on. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will also be back behind the camera.
Scream 6 is set to slice its way into theaters on March 31, 2023.
