As production continues on the next instalment in the iconic Scream franchise in Montreal, Canada, a new photo from the set has revealed the movie's official logo, and it looks like Paramount/Spyglass have come up with a clever way of differentiating the sequel from its predecessor.

It's become something of a trend for legacy sequels to drop the numbers from their titles, and because the recent fifth movie simply went by "Scream," fans had been wondering what the next film would be called.

Well, the studio appears to have solved the problem! Instead of going with "Scream 2" (which, of course, already exists), they've settled on Scream !!. The exclamation points obviously serve as a "II," but if you look closely, you should also be able to make out a "6".

In related news, Bloody Disgusting reports that both Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) And Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: No Way Home) have joined the cast in undisclosed roles.

Previous set photos have confirmed that the slasher sequel will leave Woodsboro behind, with this latest incarnation of masked serial killer Ghostface taking his reign of terror to the Big Apple.

Despite rumors that she has since come to an agreement with the studio, Neve Campbell is not expected to reprise the role of Sidney Prescott.

Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad), and Jenna Ortega (Tara) will return, with Scream 4's Hayden Panettiere set to reprise the role of Kirby. Dermot Mulroney, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, and Josh Segarra recently became the latest cast members to sign on. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will also be back behind the camera.

Scream 6 is set to slice its way into theaters on March 31, 2023.

Man, this sister site article double dipping making me feel like I've got dementia.

Why not post them on each site the same day. Making me feel like I've got the power to predict the future. Nostradamus syndrome over here lol

Looking forward to the Samara Weaving article to be posted here tomorrow or later today lol

@UGLYsonic - Yeah, I don’t get it. Why create an entirely new site that nobody goes to when they can simply make those “sites” sections of this site.
Because even if you do go there you can’t comment because you have to be logged in with a new account.

It seems silly.

@SpaceParanoids - Nate is working on fusing them, or having an option to select which sites appear on your main feed. But in the mean time it seems like they are just being abused to get extra clicks.

@SpaceParanoids - You have to log in but your login info is universal across the sites.

Even with that though, i rarely comment there myself

Last one sucked

@GhostDog - Yep. One killer was well over 6 feet and one was like 5'3 but Ghostface never changed size. And hyper paranoid, super chiseled Dewey got taken out by the tiny girl. If these movies follow the new reboot pattern, then Gayle goes next. Pass.

@IAmIronGland - That's always been Scream, though. Ghostface is always the same size, no matter who the killer is, and generally has the same mannerisms. The only established differences are the way he/she holds the knife.

These movies aren't about who physically can kill who. When someone is in the ghostface outfit, they are "Ghostface", rather than who they are in real life. Then they become vulnerable in the end when their identities are revealed.

This has been the case for every single Scream entry.

@IAmIronGland -

There's rumors there was a third killer that will explain the size difference.

Search for them online. Would be wild if true😎

@GhostDog -

I liked it but the lead actress was horrible 😳

@AmazingFILMporg - she was great in In The Heights but super stale in this. Not awful just bland.

@SheepishOne - Yeah, I guess that's true but it has never been as prevalent as it was here. Stu and Billy were about the same size. Didn't really notice with Tim Olyphant and Laurie Metcalfe. Scott Foley was the only killer in 3. And Rory Culkin and Emma Roberts are both smaller. Jack Quaid is SO much taller than Mikey Madison. I guess mainly it made way more sense to have Quaid kill Dewey.

Well that's not helping things. We now have 3 movies in this same continuity with the exact same title. And at least the last scream movie had the benefit of being a new entry after a huge amount of time.

Unless the exclamation points imply we're supposed to yell anytime we say the title.

SheepishOne - 7/15/2022, 9:24 AM
@Origame - There's a 6 in the negative space. So, the title can be whatever you choose to see.

going out on a limb and guessing Samara Weaving's character is going to be one of the killers and Tony's character will be a red herring.

@BobGarlen - then scream 7 will reveal she was actually a good person the whole time.

Spoiler Alert: Samara Weaving is OBVIOUSLY the next Ghostface killer.🤣

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - She's always looked sinister to me, but she was the villain in The Babysitter and the hero in Ready Or Not, so who knows. Perfect casting for this movie then.

Ok ill admit this was somewhat clever but this Hollywood fear of numbers is getting a little perplexing
TheLobster
TheLobster - 7/15/2022, 11:33 AM
@TheCoonII - it’s because it’s been proven that film titles with numbers higher than 3 usually result in less BO because it makes the film seem redundant and unnecessary lol

I’m not joking either

I genuinely would have loved if this one was called Scream Kills, or Screams. Or even Scream Again.

I like the use of negative space in the logo, but people are just going to call it Scream 6, which feels uninspired for a franchise like Scream. Calling 5 just "Scream" really worked for me, considering the kinds of legacy sequels it was riffing on.

Really enjoyed the last one and they’re bringing Kirby back for this one!!

Can’t hate that!
