UPDATE: Paramount has reached out to let us know the synopsis from Alamo is, in fact, fan-made. The version highlighted in red below is currently the only officially released version.
Scream VI is finally going to move the franchise out of the suburbs and into a deadly new locale in the form of New York City. That's bound to have a huge impact on how Ghostface goes about his business, and a newly revealed synopsis for the movie (via FearHQ.com) reveals more details about plans for this next chapter.
Based on what we learn here, Jenna Ortega's Tara looks set to be the Scream franchise's new "final girl," while Sam Carpenter is going to suit up as Ghostface, though only to pretend she's the killer.
We have a feeling that won't end well.
It's also confirmed that there will be a total of three Ghostface killers in Scream VI, something we're sure will only increase speculation about who now wields the killer's knife.
"As the survivors of the recent attack in Woodsboro travel to New York City for college, Tara, our final girl, begins to experience manic psychological breakdowns while seeing the ghosts of past killers," it reads. "Meanwhile, her sister, Sam, attempts to manipulate her by pretending to be Ghostface."
"But when their plan goes wrong, three new masked killers appear on the scene, leaving the question of who will survive and who will be the final victim left to be answered."
Ever since it was revealed that Sam is Billy Loomis' daughter, countless theories have suggested she will follow in his footsteps, and while she initially does so to help Tara overcome her manic psychological breakdowns, that may well take her down a dark path. As for those ghosts, we're guessing we can expect them to deliver some big cameos in the movie.
Following the latest Ghostface killings, the four survivors leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in Scream VI.
Melissa Barrera (Sam Carpenter), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy Meeks-Martin), Mason Gooding (Chad Meeks-Martin), Jenna Ortega (Tara Carpenter), Hayden Panettiere (Kirby Reed), and Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) return to their roles in the franchise alongside Jack Champion, Henry Czerny, Liana Liberato, Dermot Mulroney, Devyn Nekoda, Tony Revolori, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return to direct the action after 2022's Scream proved to be a critical and commercial hit, while the screenplay was penned by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Scream VI is set to be released in theaters on March 10.
