SLENDER MAN: Check Out The Scare-Packed Second Trailer For Sony's Upcoming Horror Flick

There have been a couple of low-budget attempts to cash in on the myth of the Slender Man over the years, but the lanky supernatural entity will finally make his way to the big screen this year for Sony Pictures and director Sylvan White's (The Losers) horror feature.

The film is set to hit theaters on May 18, and a brand new trailer has just been released. Despite a slight feeling of deja vu (probably inevitable when your monster has been a meme for almost 10 years), there are a few creepy shots here and it looks like it might be an atmospheric enough thrill ride.

Slender Man stars Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns), Joey King (The Conjuring and Wish Upon), Julia Goldani Telles (Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life), Annalise Basso (Ouija: Origin of Evil) and Alex Fitzalan.

Check out the newtrailer below, and let us know what you think.

Going to be generic.

The game(s) were scary as hell, especially if you played it alone in the dark. But this looks like standard horror fare, and going the route of making it revolve around the internet lore is the wrong way to go.

@MosquitoFarmer - That's what I was thinking.

The idea of Slender Man could give us a good to great horror film. Instead, these people just give us a generic, attempt at jump scare film.

Eh. Channel Zero is based on popular creepypastas and its one of the best horror shows ever.

@Kevwebsz - They play it on the Syfy channel right? Do they show violence and gore?

I mean it looks okay, hopefully they play up the psychological scares rather than the jump scares but we’ll see how it turns out.

A few years ago, didn't some little girl KILL HER BEST FRIEND because Slender Man told her to?!

It looks like another casual horror movie filled with cliches. They even showed the "let's do computer research about the monster for exposition" cliche in the trailer.

Yeah this looks terrible. Even of it wasnt looking like some by the numbers crap, it just looks boring. Trailer just tells me that they don't know if they want traditional jumpscares or something psychological. Besides, WAYYY too late and as someone who played these games and researched the myth as well, what made it interesting was the unknown factor. You didn't have an origin, you didn't know many powers,you didn't know what those notes meant. The whole scare portion of it was you always felt unsettled and that tension only ramped up as time went on. Movie doesn't exactly look like it's gonna provide that.

TLDR: Movie looks crappy.
