SUSPIRIA: Check Out The Unnerving First Trailer For The Remake Of Dario Argento's Horror Classic

We won't be seeing the Halloween trailer until Friday, but to get you in the mood here's the very first footage from Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria, which stars Tilda Swinton and Dakota Johnson...

Dario Argento's Suspiria is widely regarded as one of the most terrifying horror movies of all time, and now we have the first footage from Luca Guadagnino (Call Me by Your Name) upcoming remake.

The teaser opts for the no-dialogue approach, instead treating us to an unnerving combination of sound and visuals as we get glimpses of the main characters played by Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth, Lutz Ebersdorf, Jessica Harper and Chloë Grace Moretz.

If you haven't seen the original you won't get much of an idea of the plot from this, but it's probably best to go in knowing as little about this one as possible anyway.

Check out the teaser and a poster below and let us know what you think. Suspiria hits theaters on November 2.

To me it looks to be influenced by Nicolas Roeg as much as Dario Argento, maybe more so. Hopefully it's as interesting as their work.

Kind of has A24 feel to it. The original was erratic as hell so this has some potential even though I'm getting some vibes like this

I'm a massive Argento fan, and Suspiria is one of his absolute best films, so this one has its work cut out for it. This trailer was interesting, but so much of the original's impact is a result of its visual design, which Argento and his cinematographer meticulously planned and painstakingly executed.

Fingers crossed for this movie, but it has some mighty big shoes to fill.

@LoudLon -

I'm a big Argento guy too.

Unpopular opinion: his best film imo is Opera

@BlackBeltJones - Most people say Deep Red. I say Bird with the Crystal Plumage or Suspiria.

@Nightmare - Deep Red is amazing. Bird too. Been meaning to rewatch deep red soon.

@BlackBeltJones - Not all that unpopular. I actually think Tenebre is his best, but Opera is a REALLY close second for me. And while I wouldn't rate it as highly as Suspiria, I think Four Flies on Grey Velvet is grossly under-appreciated.

@BlackBeltJones - Such a great movie. It operates with such an interesting sort of dream logic. It's practically Lynchian.

I have never seen the original but this makes me want to. Creepy ass trailer and the music makes it even creepier.

The original is such a classic and I wasnt a fan of the idea of a remake but this trailer sold me a bit.

Anyone who hasn't seen the OG should before they see this

@BlackBeltJones - Damn! Why have I never heard of this movie or Dario Argento before? I'll have to see the original. I might just skip this new one.

Mainly, I just have to find out what's happening in that first gif. She's scary as F!

@ImmovableForce - There are even plenty of self-described horror fans who have never heard of Argento before, so don't feel too bad. If you're interested in checking out some of his flicks, the ones I'd recommend the most are (in no particular order):

Tenebrae
Opera
Deep Red
Suspiria
Four Flies on Grey Velvet
The Bird With the Crystal Plumage
Inferno
Phenomena
Stendhal Syndrome

Incidentally, he was one of the writers on the classic spaghetti western Once Upon a Time in the West, and helped produce the original Dawn of the Dead.

@LoudLon - I also recommend Lucio Fulci's line of work, and if you want a good idea of these films are, Watch The Cinema Snob. His reviews on both Argento and Fulci are both hilarious and shows a clear love for the director.

@Kryptonmatters - Fulci's definitely worth checking it out, yeah. My favorite of his is Zombie -- an obvious choice, maybe, but still. Also worth checking out are the Bavas (Mario and his son Lamberto), Argento protege Michele Soavi, and Mariano Baino. There are tons of other Italian horror directors, of course, but most of them are much more of an acquired taste than these others.

@LoudLon - I made a student film last year with Fulci being an inspiration, but sadly it didn't pan out, and I hope it never sees the light of day.

Looks promising. The original is one of my favorite horror films.
And oh my god that theme by Goblin is fantastic.

Look I think the Rihanna song is catchy, but I really don’t see the connection here.

Have never seen the original, no plans to see this one either, don't even know why I clicked, but I'm glad I did. This was one beautiful [frick]ing trailer, it's almost tempting me to see the film. Me not wanting to see it has less to do with the film and more to do with myself. Horror films aren't my thing. Very few catch my eye, most recently being It(I like clowns), but this one isn't quite there, but amazing trailer though.
