Now that Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D has received an official rating, fans of the franchise are wondering how long they will have to wait until they can view a trailer. And they will probably be happy to know that not only is an official trailer expected next month, but so is a second poster. This is good news considering the first poster (seen below) incorrectly states the film will be released Fall 2012, while in reality, it isn't released until 2013. This is due to the film being delayed for the cutting of scenes in an attempt to receive an 'R' rating (which it did) rather than an 'NC-17' rating.

Synopsis: A young woman named Heather travels to Texas to collect an inheritance; little does she know that an encounter with a chainsaw-yielding killer is part of the reward.

The film stars Alexandra Daddario as Heather, Dan Yeager as Bubba "Leatherface" Sawyer, Bill Moseley as Drayton Sawyer, and featuring a cameo from Gunner Hansen, who starred as Leatherface in the 1974 original. Directed by John Luessenhop. From the producers of Saw 3D: The Final Chapter.

Rather than taking place in the universe of the 2003 reboot and it's prequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, this film is a sequel only to the 1974 original ignoring the events of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

Release Date: January 4, 2013.

Rating: 'R' for "strong, grisly violence and language throughout"

"From the producers of Saw 3D: The Final Chapter."
That's not exactly a film to be proud of. I would be ashamed of myself if my name was on that film.

Saw 3D was a HUGE disappointment; here's hoping the producer's of that film didn't fudge up another one of my favorite franchises with this film. I'll give it a chance, but I'm definitely a little leary... :/

@CaptainObvious I think the only reason "From The Producers Of Saw 3D: The Final Chapter" is on the poster is because they might be proud of the 3D because Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D is in 3D. I'm just guessing, of course. I forget how good the 3D was on Saw, its been awhile since I saw it in 3D.

if they really wanna make this as THE legit sequel to the classic original, then they better BRING IT. and i wonder if they can keep that authentic 70's cheap horror cinema feel.. and i wonder if they can actually scare the crap outta me like the 74 one did.

The guy in the wheelchair in the original annoys the hell out of me every time I try to watch it. My attention span doesn't last too long with that movie

so is this like a superman returns kind of deal? a reboot/sequel to take the place of entries in the series that most fans roll their eyes at? count me out.

love, love, love the '74 original. i think we just need to realize that tcsm can and should not be a franchise. it works best as a one shot deal. the remake wasn't bad but did nothing the org didn't do with more class.

@jessepostal: dude, franklin was the bomb. that performance was a highlight of the film? watching an annoying wheel chairbound man-child in a film with the word chainsaw in the title is brilliant. SPOLIER - the fact he is the last to die is also great. Movie messes with audience expectations at every turn. the formula and methods employed have been used in evey genre film like it since. your attention span saddens me :(
