AMC's new Interview With the Vampire series premiered over the weekend (and we'd highly recommend checking it out), and the network (via FearHQ.com) has now debuted the first footage from another small-screen adaptation of the late Anne Rice's "Immortal Universe," The Lives of the Mayfair Witches.

It's not much, but the brief promo does give us a look at protagonist Rowan Mayfair (Alexandra Daddario) as she cautiously enters a mysterious house where the names of her fellow witches are being chanted during some kind of séance.

Is Rowan really the Thirteenth Witch, or will another emerge from the shadows to claim that title?

The show will also star Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, and Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire, The Irishman) as the demonic entity known as Lasher, a powerful shape-shifter who has been bound to the Mayfair witches for hundreds of years.

“The series will focus on an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”

Esta Spalding (Masters of Sex, On Becoming a God in Central Florida) and Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, The Pacific, John Adams) are both executive producing and writing the series, while Spalding is also on board as showrunner.

No official premiere date has been announced, but Mayfair Witches is expected to hit our screens early next year.

@TheWalkingCuban -

X-men won't be cast for years and people are worked up over Black fan-casting.

Can we give it a rest?

Interview with the Vampire was not good! Any fan of the books will quickly see this show has nothing to do with the books or even the old movie. The vampires appreciated beauty they didn't frak each other or have that as their sole motivation for everything they do. And this Anne Rice book was never great to begin with so surprised they are making it a show.

I won't be checking out anything AMC has to offer after seeing what they did to Interview. I do highly recommend reading her Vampire series of books though they are excellent and my favorite description of immortal beings in any story I've seen, read, or heard of.

Alexandra Daddario playing a neurosurgeon is as believable as Denise Richards playing a nuclear scientist in The World is Not Enough.

I's watch Alexandra Daddario in almost anything. She was awesome in True Detective.
