Underworld 4 Pushed Back to 2012

Underworld fans are going to have to wait even longer before they get to feast their eyes on a fully latex-ed Kate Beckinsale again.

The latest installment of the Underworld series is hoping to remind you that they were doing Vampires and Werewolves before Twilight was. But you will have to wait a little longer to see Beckinsale back in the leather tights as the film is being delayed without official reason to the time slot where movies go to die. Originally supposed to be out September 2011, the film will now come out January 2012.

Underworld 4 has been cranking through development for quite some time now with Len Wiseman back at the helm, but even so, Sony’s Screen Gems arm has decided to push release back from September 23, 2011 to January 20, 2012. They don’t cite a reason according to ComingSoon, but presumably they’re buying extra time to really hone the story. Screenwriter John Hlavin had this to say: “It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don’t want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements.”

I think the fans made it pretty clear that with the Underworld franchise, we dont want to see more about that world, we want to see more of Kate Beckinsale’s Seline.

The prequel was interesting, but I would prefer to see more of the modern day setting.
