Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. These movies make the RE games look like masterpiece works of art.

This is Resident Evil:

This is bullshit:

Well I've been playing them since I was 11 (almost 22 now) so I've played all the main series. Unlike some fans I actually like how the series has evolved from 4 onwards. My personal favourite is the REmake of the first game on Gamecube. Lisa Trevor still freaks me out. What about you?

i am blown away as to how they rationalize making more of these movies...

@Cipher Even though I've played through it countless times and know the maps off-by-heart, it still is one of the games that causes the most panic and fear for me, with the claustrophobic environments and all. I also love the highly underrated Resident Evil Zero. Ever play that one?

Can't wait! Love the games & movies, so glad the movies aren't following the games. Would be pointless watching an exact adaptation IMO. I would hate knowing everything that's going to happen scene by scene.

@Cipher My collection:
Resident Evil Zero (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 1 (PS1)
Resident Evil 1 (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 2 (PS1)
Resident Evil 3 (PS1)
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)
Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)
Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles (Wii)

I agree that Billy and Rebecca are great characters: so are all of the STARS members, which is why it depresses me to see these piece of crap 'Milla backflipping in slow motion' films that do nothing but ruin the series' name. Imagine a faithful adaptation of the first game, it would be so amazing!

I've played almost all of the games, umbrella chronicles, Remake and RE Nemesis are the best in opinion. But I love every game and I will continue to try new ones :)
But the movies are something much different and I really hate how awful they made our beloved characters from the games.

And I think that they will continue to make more stupid movies with Alice as the big star and the others just...nothing :(

But then I realize that the movies are probably the best ones based on videogames (besides pokemon) and even if there won't be any reboot of these movies we still got that "RE vibe" with zombies, lickers and of course Umbrella!

Besides, I enjoy watching the movies because Milla is good and finally we got a badass woman as the major role in a (kind of?) superhero movie :/

Anyways, any news about the other RE movie, Damnation?

I'm waiting for the trailers to say, "This will be the last one, we promise." :P

I only own RE4 and RE5 on Xbox 360. I lost my copy of RE: Code Veronica for Dreamcast, which doesn't matter because I sold my Dreamcast a long time ago.

I've been playing the games since the first one.

@AgentDelta I confirm your comment 100%. Maybe someday we will get that in movie form.

@Cipher Well Darkside Chronicles isn't as essential as all the rest on that list, it's just a House of the Dead style re-telling of Code Veronica, 2 and also explains Krauser's origins. Birkin is probably my all-time favourite monster, his mutations are so gruesome and to see it in live-action would be horrifying! Lol I hope it never happens in real life, or if it does, at least it isn't anywhere near me! :P

@JillValenfield I agree that they ruined the game characters. A chain smoking Jill Valentine who squints into the distance and speaks in a gravelly voice? Ugh, talk about ruining her! I hate Milla, there is no denying these films are being made just because she's married to Anderson. I also can't believe that he also directed one of my favourite horror films Event Horizon, which was basically Resident Evil 1 in space.

@mgeoff88 I think a really good, claustrophobic film based fully on the REmake, with the cast of Jill, Chris, Barry, Rebecca and Wesker would be far more interesting than a film with characters called 'K-Mart' and 'Rain.'

I think the movie will be enjoyable to watch as long as you don't expect Academy Award level writing and acting. The only thing that concerns me is that all of the trailers so far have pretty much kept Leon Kennedy out. I at least hope they focus on him when they reboot the film series after this one.
mgeoff88
mgeoff88 - 8/8/2012, 5:53 AM
@AgentDelta I say just do the reboot and then base it on the numbered games. No Code Veronica movie please.

Like base the first rebooted movie on the first game and so on and so forth. Yah, I agree. I don't want anymore movies about Alice or whatever made up character they can think of. I want the video game characters to be the main characters!

Lol the movies are so tedious! I mean ok they are ok to watch but there is no challenege you dont relate/nor care for Alice. Silent hill had a better transition from game to film.

- YES to a reboot closer to the games/ Capcom animation one was the best
AgentDelta
AgentDelta - 8/9/2012, 3:03 AM
@mgeoff88 I think the films should be:

First Film: Mainly the first game, with hints of Zero.
Second Film: All of 2, bits of 3
Third film: I think Code Veronica would be good, as it wraps up Claire's story of finding Chris, plus it hints at Leon and Jill's locations.

If these are successful, do a prequel (Zero) and then a second trilogy based on 4, 5 and then 6.
