"We are our own worst enemy."

An international trailer for Get Out director Jordan Peele's Us has made its way online, and it contains some seriously creepy new footage.

Black Panther stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke reunite to play a couple who take their two kids on summer vacation with some friends, only to discover twisted versions of themselves on their property. From there it looks like things are going to get even more disturbing as the family must fight to stay alive against enemies that know their every thought and move.

The teaser doesn't really provide any hints as to the origin of the evil doppelgangers, but knowing Peele he'll have a few tricks up his sleeve that very few will see coming.

Check out the new trailer for Us down below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Set in present day along the iconic Northern California coastline, Us, from Monkeypaw Productions, stars Oscar® winner Lupita Nyong’o as Adelaide Wilson, a woman returning to her beachside childhood home with her husband, Gabe (Black Panther’s Winston Duke), and their two children (Shahadi Wright Joseph, Evan Alex) for an idyllic summer getaway. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers (Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, Tim Heidecker, Cali Sheldon, Noelle Sheldon), Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway. Us pits an endearing American family against a terrifying and uncanny opponent: doppelgängers of themselves.

Us is set for release on March 15, 2019.

@knocturnalzen10 - yeah I'm really liking what we've been shown so far. It looks unnerving. And it looks even better and more twisted than Get Out, which was great.

@HeavyMetal4Life - i get that feeling i'll be moving uncomfortable in my seat while watching

@HeavyMetal4Life @knocturnalzen10

I loved Get Out but I’d be really happy if this was more straightforward horror.

Get Out was genuinely really funny as much as it was disturbing. I want this to be nightmare fuel 😈

@regularmovieguy - ask and ye shall receive! And by that, lol, I mean that I think he is doing with Us exactly what you're looking for. It looks pretty nightmarish and more straightforward horror.

@regularmovieguy - i think we'll get that in this film .... it looks like this family is pushed to the point of making business decisions

I wonder what the hidden message will be in this movie. My guess would be colorism but we will see.

Also, does anyone else think Jordan Peele might be building his own film universe with these movies?
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 2/25/2019, 12:14 PM
@DarkArrow19 - colorism? The hidden message isn't so hidden. Its the film's tagline: "We are our own worst enemy." Our dark reflections are what we are most afraid of.
knocturnalzen10
knocturnalzen10 - 2/25/2019, 12:17 PM
@DarkArrow19 - not sure if any of these will be connected but i think he's creating his own brand of film that will be identifiable.
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:17 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - I guess that’s makes sense. I guess I’m just waiting for the film to see what messages are in it. What intrigues me most about Peele is to me he is almost like a M Night Shamylan and his movies are mysterious.
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:20 PM
@knocturnalzen10 - I agree. His films will be easily identifiable and he’s definitely making his mark in the film industry.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 2/25/2019, 12:25 PM
@DarkArrow19 - yeah I think from everything we've seen and all the marketing so far, the message isn't as hidden as in Get Out. I'm sure there will be a bit of a twist on "we are our own worst enemy" revealed as the movie goes along. But I do agree, Peele's directing style is very intriguing!
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:26 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - well that makes a lot of sense. As weird as this sounds on this site, I only have been watching the first trailer that a film gets released so that way I don’t know much about the films before I see them. Sadly this tactic is a reaction from the many tv spots from suicide squad that didn’t make the cut but that’s a different discussion haha
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 2/25/2019, 12:29 PM
@DarkArrow19 - not weird at all bro, actually that's probably best. For movies that I REALLY, REALLY care about (Captain Marvel, Endgame, etc.) I cut myself off after the 2nd full trailer. I've noticed that after the 2nd trailer, the promos and any additional trailers begin giving away too much footage. So I totally understand your perspective, and hats off to you that you stop after the first trailer!
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:32 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - yeah with films I really care about ie Endgame and Captain Marvel, I even try to avoid those articles so I don’t get even get caught up in any potential spoilers or Reddit leaks. But movies like this that really intrigue me I enjoy see what people’s comments are and what they expect from the film. I hope this film does even better than Get Out and I hope it’s more tense and heart pounding. I’m sort of over the typical possession and demonic horror movies and I hope this film will be a step towards a new horror genre of film making.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 2/25/2019, 12:37 PM
@DarkArrow19 - I think you and I are pretty similar in how we approach this stuff, lol. I don't even read the content on the Capt Marvel articles anymore, I just go to the comments sections and express excitement for the movie with other users. Endgame will be different, I won't be visiting any of those articles until i see the movie. That's what I did for Infinity War and I managed to avoid every spoiler.

And totally agree about a step towards a new horror genre of film making! I'll tell ya, this has been a good decade (especially the last several years) for a renaissance in the horror genre.
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:42 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - yeah same here. I can honestly say I had no real idea about the Snappening when I saw Infinity War so I was genuinely surprised because I thought there was no way they could kill off half of all life haha clearly I was wrong with that lol

And I couldn’t agree more with you dude. This horror genre over the past decades has given some really great films and I love how there’s so many different and diverse horror films and people just keep finding more and more ways for me to sh*t my pants haha
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 2/25/2019, 12:45 PM
@DarkArrow19 - yeah I had no idea all those heroes would die. I also had no idea Red Skull was appearing, the biggest wtf moment for me (and I actually shouted out loud "HOLY FCK" when he descended from the shadows, lol. My friend next to me was looking at me funny.)

And haha lmfao, exactly. Bump that fear factor up to 11!!

As much as I appreciated what he was doing subtextually with Get Out, it actually seemed like a fairly straight forward horror film, all things considered. I didn't see it til it had been out a good while, I wasn't really spoiled on anything, but not much of the machinations of the story really surprised me, either.

I'm VERY intrigued by this, however, looks like very possibly a significant step up. I'm just hoping the 'answer' is nothing to do with the first possibility my mind goes to, that it's actually some sort of future version of themselves, after having gone thru a ridiculous amount of torture or trauma or something, and believe they have to kill their past selves.
DarkArrow19
DarkArrow19 - 2/25/2019, 12:38 PM
@CaptCoulson - wow that would be crazy if it was a futuristic version of themselves. I’m sort of thinking they’re clones and they’re trying to get rid of the originals to take their place and to act more like a robot and “gray” versus acting how people naturally act and are diverse special in their own way. I believe the clones will represent how people are trying to get everyone to be alike each other as opposed to accepting everyone for who they are.
TheGrayGhost2
TheGrayGhost2 - 2/25/2019, 12:44 PM
@CaptCoulson @DarkArrow19 - My money would be on them only being hallucinations or in their heads. At the end most of (if not all) the family will be dead and some officer/doctor on the scene will explain that there was some form of mold or something in their house/area that contaminated them.
CaptCoulson
CaptCoulson - 2/25/2019, 1:58 PM
@TheGrayGhost2 - oh and so like it'll actually be them who's killing their friends? the couple that Elizabeth Moss is part of. cause it sure looks like they're suffering plenty in the story too
Legendaddy
Legendaddy - 2/25/2019, 10:43 PM
@CaptCoulson - what if... The ones that are trying to kill the family are actually the originals, who went crazy because some experiments aimed to clone them, and after seeing that the experiment came with trouble, the manipulators put the clones on the original family's place...
TheGrayGhost2
TheGrayGhost2 - 2/26/2019, 6:34 AM
@CaptCoulson - Yea basically. I feel it will be something like that. Probably will not end up that way but could make sense, especially with all the you are your own worst enemy stuff people are saying.
