7 Years Later & Terrence Howard Still Holds A Grudge Toward Robert Downey Jr. For IRON MAN

During a new interview with Rolling Stone, Empire actor Terrence Howard reflected on him being replaced as War Machine in the Iron Man franchise, and reveals that he still blames Robert Downey Jr. for taking his millions in the sequel film. Hit the jump to check it out!

As you know, Terrance Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle in the second film in the Iron Man franchise (Iron Man 2). A few years ago, Howard revealed that he was fired due to a contract dispute. It turns out the money that he wanted, he never got, and it eventually all went to Robert Downey Jr.. Whether this was the case or not, Terrance Howard revealed some new details in his latest interview with the Rolling Stone magazine.

According to the man himself, it turns out that his agent said “F**k you”, and hung up on him. Shortly after that, Don Cheadle (as seen in the image to the right) was hired to take over as James Rhodes/ War Machine. That’s just the beginning though, Howard then goes in depth and reveals how Robert Downey Jr. “screwed” him. "I called Robby and was like, 'Look, man . . .' Leaving messages with his assistants, called him at least 17 times that day and 21 the next and finally left a message saying, 'Look, man, I need the help that I gave you.' Never heard from him.” After this, Howard says that RDJ wound up getting all the money he could have had. “And guess who got the millions I was supposed to get? He got the whole franchise, so I've actually given him $100 million, which ends up being a $100 million loss for me from me trying to look after somebody, but, you know, to this day I would do the same thing. It's just my nature."

Will Terrance Howard ever forgive Robert Downey Jr. for this long-lasting conflict? Who knows, but since Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are breaking free from CEO Isaac "Ike" Perlmutter’s control, changes like that should never happen again. Woah! What does Perlmutter has to do with this? Well, if you read a recent report, it was stated that it was Perlmutter’s decision to fire Howard, not Robert Downey Jr.’s. Since then, Howard’s been doing pretty well, but hey, who wouldn’t be angry about being replaced in a Marvel film- especially looking at how successful they are now.

What do you think about all this? Who would have rather seen star as James Rhodes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? To see more of Howard’s "bizarre" thoughts click the link below! For now, share your thoughts in the comment section below!

Time to move on with your life. He can't stop dwelling in the past and saying the same shit over and over again. He'd make an excellent CBM user.

I like Howard, but he's an @ss and needs to let it go. He was never going to be the face of the franchise.

I do think he would've made a better WM than Don Cheadle. Howard and RDJ seemed to have better chemistry.

I like how people automatically ignore that RDJ was a total asshole and start telling Howard to let go losing an entire franchise in his career. Anyone else in his position would be just as pissed.

RDJ acts like an asshole yet Terrance Howard is the guy who needs to stfu. Marvelous logic right there.

This is only one side of the story. I'd like to hear RDJs and Feiges take on what happened.

Either way, Howard should stop bringing this up. You're in a successful tv series and have worked in many movies since.

War machine is a joke in the Iron Man films especially 3 where he is the most incompetent and just there to look foolish and be the joke of the screen. Marvel doesn't take the character serious.

Howard did have more chemistry with RDJ. That is suck a low and d*** move by RDJ. IF someone fought for you after your horrific downward spiral career he should have man up and did the same for Howard. Karma will come back for him if all this is true

If what is being said is true then RDJ is a scumbag.

LOL, talk about MASSIVE ego ! He is not IM !

He was the top billed actor in the first movie with Gwyneth Paltrow. RDJ was the lowest paid one despite being the lead.

He was paid $5M versus $500 thoushands for RDJ. That's 10 times as much as RDJ for a muh smaller role. RDJ ends up the main point of attraction in the movie, carried the movie and made the character popular.

Howard thinks as a side character who was top billed in the first movie he deserved to be payed like he is the lead one because he supposedly brought RDJ in the role and therefore is entitilled to get payed for every subsequent success brought by IM.

Plus he is not even the main person who brought RDJ. Favreau is the one who actually convinced MARVEL to hire RDJ and FEIGE is still the one who took the decision and the risk of hiring him which paid of tremendously.

WB should get him to play Black Lightning or Icon. Empire is a pretty good show he's in right now and I'd like to see him given another chance at a comic book movie. If WB gets a Justice League Dark film ever going he would also work for the character of Bloodwynd. I know he isn't in the comic, but he'd fit right in on that team.

People don't understand his frustration. At the time RDJ was a risky investment in Hollywood due to his past atrocities. Howard vouched for him as he was the biggest star at the time and used what clout he had to back up Jon Favreau about hiring RDJ. At this time, even Feige wanted someone else. So I can see how it can cut deep if that person didn't do the same for you.
But.. I also don't blame RDJ. At this point Ironman was a huge hit but I doubt he had as much clout as he has now. Cos last year he singlehandedly used his pull at Marvel to get the entire Avengers cast contracts to be renegotiated and give them more money. I think if he could do that back then, he would have helped Howard.

if he didnt have the clout then he could atleast have been "man" about it and told T.Howard what was up....right?

It doesn't sound like he was just helping out a friend, because a real friend wouldnt expect something in return sounds more like he was making a business deal. But it also sounds like he was expecting to be the face of the franchise which is freakin hilarious

Also I forgot to say wasn't Isaac Perlmutter the reason he was fired and if so you have to wonder how much better Marvel Studios will be going forward. I'm not saying the change from Terrence, to Don is the reason the last two Iron Man movies weren't the greatest, but it is kind of funny in a way after he left they weren't as good. So Terrence can look on that as the bright side.

Point is Terrence was replaced because he asked a raise to reprise a small role in a movie where he was already paid much bigger than the lead and most A list actors in it.

He isn't the reason why IM was massively and instantly popular.

The reasons were FEIGE+FAVREAU+RDJ.

Those are the people who could actually ask deservedly for a raise, especially RDJ after being underpaid in IM.

And again, RDJ was certainly not in a position to help someone who ask an underserved raise to reprise a small role after being the highest paid actor in the first movie when the two Chrises didn't even got the $half million of RD.

Why would RDJ help hm negotiate a raise when he already negotiated his. Plus helping (since Howard think he is the main reason why RDJ got the part) some getting a part and helping him getting a raise for the highestpart he already has isn't exactly the same.

Why would Marvel or any studio for that matter agreed to pay like $10M for ANY actor for such a small role in his sequel ?

Poor Terrence Howard and his lost money. I heard he was going to go with the "sexual abuse" angle, but then people would've dismissed him as an opportunistic leech.
