BOX OFFICE: Ok, So NOW It's Official. IRON MAN 3 Grosses $1 Billion Worldwide
We knew this was going to happen yesterday and some sites even preemptively reported Iron Man 3 as having grossed $1 billion before theatres closed their doors for the day! Well, it's now 100% official; the latest movie from Marvel Studios has become only the 16th ever to reach the landmark number.
We have today learned that Iron Man 3 has officially grossed over $1 billion worldwide. It now joins the likes of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Toy Story 3, The Dark Knight Rises, Skyfall, and Marvel's The Avengers as one of only 16 films to accomplish such an impressive feat. The Shane Black helmed threequel has grossed $697.8 million overseas since being released and $301.9 million in North America. With Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hangover Part III and Fast And Furious 6 all set for release this month, the movie will start to drop lower and lower down the charts, but there's still a long way to go and many believe it will ultimately earn upwards of $1.2 billion. For now, we'll just have to wait and see. How many times have you seen Iron Man 3 so far?
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
