Entertainment Tonight aired their annual Iron Monday scoop, now with attention on the film's villains, Justin Hammer & Whiplash. Iron Man 2 star, Robert Downey Jr., and director, Jon Favreau gives brief talk on the subject.

"Justin Hammer is a rival arms dealer to Tony Stark," explains Sam of his character, who teams up with the Russian Whiplash, aka Ivan Vanko. "Our characters are so much the opposite that it works pretty well."

"He's driven through desperation to reach out to Ivan Vanko," says director Jon Favreau of Hammer. "With Ivan's talent, together they might be able to challenge Tony Stark."

"We did whip training; we used bullwhips," says Mickey about his character's signature weapons. "There were a lot of almost-martial arts moves where I was familiar with using nunchucks, so old training from a long time ago came in handy."

@grif Some folks and I know whether or not he gets an armor, but I'm not gonna say. No matter how good this film will be, the first one had a very basic understandable plot, than this one. But I KNOW this movie will be the shit.

Cool.

So guys is a Thor cameo really logical, Nick Fury wasnt really a cameo becuase he was carried over into the sequel. Tony's cameo in The Incredible Hulk made sense because we had seen Tony Stark in Iron Man.

Therefore would it make sense (to general movie goers) for Chris Hemsworth to appear in Iron Man 2 if there is nothing yet in the movieverse indicating who he is?

I couldn;t care less if Rourke only has this suit in the film I think he looks bad-ass.

from total film with iron man 2 on cover: An initially robo-suited Whiplash was dismissed because of its similarity to the first film's Iron Monger, Favreau wanting the take his second film into the human struggle of Stark. "The rock-'em sock-'em robot showdown was fun but two suited characters hitting each other isn't really innovative" he says. "With this Whiplash it gave us an oppurtunity to show him fighting Tony Stark, not Iron Man."

Dunno bout whiplash's suit

In regards to wiplash armor... im pretty sure they just aren't showing everything in the trailer... which is what they should do. They don't need to show the whole movie to get people into theaters... besides, its nice to have a few unexpect surprises! I mean at least for me =D

So Fury won't be in Thor, therefore if Thor is in Iron Man 2, Fury won't be introducing the two of them since in Thor it won't show a connection between the two characters. If Thor apprears in Iron Man it'll have to be by himself approaching Iron Man or vise versa. I think it would be cool if Iron Man comes across Thor immediatly after the events of Thor leaving us to wonder what the hell did we miss out on...and then in Thor at the end of the film see the exact same scene from a different angle showing Iron Man showing up and the rest of the events playing out
