Showcasing James “Rhodey” Rhodes’ upgraded War Machine armor, dubbed Iron Patriot, new promotional artwork has surfaced for the much-anticipated third Iron Man installment. The artwork features elevations of the red, white and blue armor and a pre-painted version. While we're still anticipating next week's teaser poster and trailer, as well as its potential sneak preview currently 88 percent away, check out the promotional artwork below!

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

@PantherX Marvel recently purchased the "Iron Patriot" trademark, so that's what he may be referred to as...for promotional purposes. Not likely in the movie.

They really need to arm him to the teeth and make him a little bulkier to really distinguish him from the IronMan armor.

That said I'm still diggin it. Give us a trailer already

That War Machine paint job is so damn rad. Hopefully, the Iron Patriot look is for "commercial" purposes of some kind.

@OdinsBeard The grey suit is still the Iron Patriot design

Phase Two has really amplified the vibrancy of the costumes. Marvel has a lot of confidence, I like it. Especially the strong Vikings influence in Thor: The Dark World is another gift from Marvel. The "un-film-able" things from the comic books are now possible! I'm curious as to whether Captain America will protruding wings on his mask for The Winter Soldier?

Why paint the star on the chest when they could've just made the arc reactor star shaped? It'd be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye that way.

Oh, and who else thinks the U.S. Military changed James Rhodes' Codename from "War Machine" to "Iron Patriot" for peace propaganda against the gaining popularity of government–independent The Avengers?

The eyes look slightly angrier than Tony's armour's eyes in the first pic. I like it.

I really hope the Iron Patriot is for some kind of propaganda or promotional thing in the movie.

Other than that, where is the missile launcher coupled with the minigun?

freshmen@ yep! i just was wondering if we'd see the ole grey and silver.. i hope in the end rhodey ditches the patriot armor and come back with a new, deck-out, grey suit.

Iron Patriot is one of my favourite bad guys in the comics, but do we really need another star spangled man in the MCU? I think it looks great but I'm thinking that's how those who don't read the books might react

@OdinsBeard Yeah I'd actually prefer that as well. Hoping Iron Patriot is nonexistent by the film's end

@Mercwitham0uth exactly just add the minigun back on but the prequel comic should hopefully explain the change along with why rhodes wasn't in the avengers

On the silver version, the helmet looks much more like War Machine than it did in Iron Man 2. Cool.

They should've stuck to the pre-painted version, hopefully it gets a good amount of screen time in that form. I still prefer the IM2 WM, had the right amount of bulk and the minigun is always a classic, the new suit just looks too streamlined to be WM.

If you guys notice, look closely at the Iron Patriot and War Machine armor. On the helmet, it appears to be able to disassemble itself similar to the Mark V armor. It has the same dissembling lines as Mark V Just a little something I noticed.

Nice, but what would really be awesome is if Norman Osborn was the Iron Patroit on maybe the last Amazing Spider-Man, but give him his regular costume first though.
