Ben Affleck Confirms J.K. Simmons For His BATMAN Standalone Film, Talks JUSTICE LEAGUE Tactical Suit

While it seemed pretty obvious, Ben Affleck has confirmed J.K. Simmons' Commissioner Gordon for his solo Batman film, along with briefly discussing his tactical suit for Justice League

Batman's Tactical Suit that he'll be wearing in Justice League was finally revealed by Zack Snyder a few weeks ago, and fans were buzzing about the how the new suit could be used when confronting Steppenwolf (and possibly Deathstroke) when the film releases next year. In an interview with Mario Lopez of Extra, Ben Affleck expressed his happiness with the final suit, along with teasing it briefly.

“There’s two suits in Justice League,” Affleck said. “One is the one that we’ve seen before, and then one that he augments because of the nature of the mission, which I can’t give away. But it was a chance for them to play with the suit and add elements to it and kind of tech it out, and I thought they did a really good job. It was really fun.”

Affleck also confirmed once again that he will be writing and directing the standalone Batman film, stopping short of divulging too much, though he did confirm that J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role in the film as Commissioner Gordon, who will make his first appearance in Justice League.

Justice League probably won't be great, but I think that the Batman film will be. They've got a great cast and a great director.

@Valdez - I wish they could get a character right other than Batman for once.

@BillCipher999 - Take the Batman movie. If DC Films tanks, they're done, and it won't be like when Green Lantern or Superman Returns bombed. They have put considerable time and money in the DC Films Universe. If they are forced to reboot, it will mean they have lost massive amounts of money. It will put EVERYTHING in development hell for at LEAST a decade.

I always thought that is really disrespectful when this interviewers talk about CBMs in the press junkets for the others movies, I mean, look at the director´s face sitting right next to affleck

There is nothing new here. He literally just says the obvious, and what we already knew from the Justice League set visit. One suit is for the normal stuff and the other suit is for the big fight.

The Gordon thing as well. Unless you expected him to only appear in Justice League?

Everybody that was complaining about the suit being his JL suit can be quiet now.

Really suprised Afleck has agreed to direct a Batman film, he has a pretty stellar directing streak since his comeback and there's a massive risk of ruining it with this film, because I just don't think the Batman they gave us in BVS is a character that could be in a truly great serious film. I think we've been spoiled by the Nolan trilogy because even with its flaws, those movies built a character, they earnt it. This time they were so desperate to put him on screen that they rushed this half baked concept batman with no flavour or substance to him. I don't know, I'm biased because I hated everything about Afleck's batman in BVS, and I thought it was a great casting. But even with the changes in tone from the justice league trailer... He just doesn't work for me. Bland, soulless, poorly acted and just a totally uninspiring performance. I'd prefer they cut their losses and reboot all this because batman has so much potential. But when youve already screwed the joker up half of what makes batman universe great is screwed as far as I'm concerned. Now jeffrey dean morgan couldve played the role and given it some edge, rather than playing the dad. Since theyre going old anyway. Look at comedian and negan, he's still young enough.

I hope he goes the route of The Town more than Argo. Argo was awesome from an editing and directing standpoint, but none of the characters had real depth, so to speak. The Town spent much more time to fully give the characters arcs and depth.

I hope Nightwing, Oracle and Red Robin will be in the Batman movie too. Because it is about time they are in Batman movies. I'd love to see Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown too, but will be fine with just the main three.
